This modern, casual wine bar ... that is located on a pedestrian road in the Athens, Pagrati neighbourhood ... is a real oasis for wine & food lovers that I'm happy to recommend!👍😊

Here, apart from serving wine and food, the place has a well stocked wine shop and two underground wine cellars with a good selection of Greek and international wines ... that I really enjoyed visiting with Vassiliki; a staff member who was a real pro and shared her knowledge & expertise with me and another friend . . . in a truly pleasant manner. 😊👍

There were lots of tempting wines to taste and with Vassiliki's guidance we opted for four different wines that we paired with some carefylly crafted & tasty simple dishes from their trendy menu. 👍😋👍

On another summer evening ... we opted for a truly pleasant chilled Chenin Blanc served with 2 different cheeses (Graviera from the island of Kasos & delish Saint Michael) + the Almira salad that I really like! 👍😋👍😋

We live in the neighbourhood, but had never tried this bar before. The place was empty, there were no "reserved" signs placed on any of the tables, but the first question was "Have you made a reservation?' News flash: if you think this makes you look like the place is normally crammed, it doesn't. The only sparkling water they had was San Pellegrino, though there are equally good ones from Greece. The wine was decent, and the cheese plattter small but good. BUT: this is supposed to be a wine bar. When my friend ordered a second glass of the wine she was drinking, the waiter turned back to say 'oh, we have the same wine (he meant cepage) but it's a different brand, is that OK?' Of course it wasn't OK, so we got out of there. Go ahead and be pretentious, but if you do, make damn sure you...

Η δική μας εμπειρία ομολογουμένως δεν ήταν και η καλύτερη! Και δεν θα έκρινα τόσο αυστηρά αν διέκρινα την ελάχιστη προσπάθεια ή αν στο μαγαζί είχε πέσει φουλ δουλειά (που και πάλι δεν αποτελεί δικαιολογία). 1. Δεν ενημερώθηκαμε εξ αρχής ότι το κρασί που επιλέξαμε δεν είναι της χρονιάς που ο κατάλογος αναφερόταν (ένα carmenere 2018) ενώ στο τραπέζι ήρθε του 21. Παρ' όλα αυτά επιλέξαμε όντως να το κρατήσουμε (τυχαίο είπαμε). 2. Λάθος με το 1ο πιάτο που από μόνη της η σερβιτόρα αντί για μοσχάρι Αργεντινής επέλεξε να ακούσει ραγού. Το πιάτο όντως αλλάχτηκε - με ύφος (θεωρήσαμε τυχαίο κ αυτό το γεγονός και το προσπέρασαμε). 3. Έρχεται το ριζότο. Άγευστο και εμφανώς ρευστό. Δεν μας άρεσε καθόλου. 4. Λέμε ας δούμε ξανά τον κατάλογο να προσθέσουμε μερικά τυριά, επιλέγουμε τα 3 πρώτα και ενημερώνουμε τον σερβιτόρο αυτή τη φορά. Τα τυριά δεν έφτασαν ποτέ στο τραπέζι. 5. Η εισαγωγή των κρασιών στο διπλανό τραπέζι και η αναφορά στο κελάρι, ουδέποτε μας έγινε, που σημαίνει δεν τηρείται η ίδια διαδικασία σε όλους τους πελάτες.

Γενικά, το είδος του μαγαζιού θα ήθελε ανθρώπους με περισσότερη όρεξη και προσοχή προς τον πελάτη. Δεν αρκεί μόνο να έχεις τεράστια λίστα κρασιών αν δεν ξέρεις να την προτείνεις. Ή να παρουσιάζεις ωραίες ιδέες σε πιάτα, αν η κουζίνα σου δεν μπορεί να ανταποκριθεί. Γενικά και με αγάπη προς το κρασί, η παραπάνω κριτική έχει σκοπό να βελτιώσει κάποια πράγματα και όχι απλά για να μοιραστούμε την "όχι και τόσο καλή" εμπειρία μας. Ζητάμε και προτιμάμε να περάσουμε ωραια βράδια σε τέτοια μαγαζιά, αλλά εφόσον αφήνουμε και τα ανάλογα χρήματα, η ποιότητα των υπηρεσιών που δεχόμαστε ας είναι...
