Pass up the Acropolis views of the more tourist-focused restaurants along Adrianou and duck down a side street to find this wonderful hidden gem. The ambience is very nice, and they have live music some nights, although not when we were there.

My wife and I ordered marinated anchovies and grilled octopus for starters, and the fish of the day, sea bass, for our main course. The fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked, while the octopus was probably the best we had in Athens. Our time in the city to that point had conditioned us to think that that would be enough food for two people, but portion sizes are much more reasonable here, and we were still hungry. On the recommendation of our helpful and attentive server, we ordered the meatballs appetizer, and again were not disappointed. Desert was rava cake, which was also quite good.

On the whole, this might have been the best meal we ate in Athens, which is saying quite a lot....

In late July on a very hot first night in Athens, we went to dinner here. We had looked at many menus online and went with Omorfi Polis. It met all of our expectations, and in fact, exceeded them with their thoughtful and attentive service. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. They placed us at the best table for our family, they made recommendations based on what we liked, and their service was very prompt, while we never felt rushed to leave once we finished our meal. There was a delightful surprise treat (no charge)provided at the end of the meal and they took our boys outside and let them wet their hats in the spray fans in order to stay cool. The atmosphere was wonderfully warm and Greek to celebrate our first night in Athens. The location was perfect, allowing us to check out the flea market streets and shopping both before and after dinner. We highly recommend...

Authentic and Absolutely Worth It – A Hidden Gem Among Overhyped Spots

We discovered this restaurant thanks to Google reviews — and we’re so glad we did! While many other places are hyped up on TikTok and various social media channels, they often leave visitors disappointed. This one truly stands out and delivers on what others only promise.

As someone with professional experience in the hospitality industry, we can confidently say: 5/5 – Top notch.

Highly recommended: order the chicken souvlaki, the mezze appetizer platter, and the stuffed vine leaves — share it all as a duo and you’ll be full and happy. Pair that with the house wine, and you’re in for a wonderful, relaxed evening.

We’ll definitely be back. This place deserves...

We had heard great things about this taverna and made a reservation in advance. The atmosphere was lovely and the live band was amazing! The food was good and varied, but there were a few downsides. They offer water at the beginning, but it’s bottled and charged – this wasn’t clearly mentioned. Bread was brought automatically, though we returned it and weren’t charged. I didn’t enjoy the wine, and unlike what I’m used to, it wasn’t replaced or taken off the bill. Also, the bill was only in Greek, so we had to use a translation app to understand the charges. On the plus side, they gave a complimentary dessert to everyone – a nice chocolate and biscuit roulade.

Decided to try out Omorphi Polis for dinner. Seated immediately on a weekday evening (9:00pm). Servers are pushy, trying to get you to order more dishes. They also seem to expect a tip. - Water (2,00€ for 1L) - Greek salad (8,50€) - feta was nice but way too much red onion. Olives were salty - Gemista (10,00€) - stuffed peppers were bland. Potatoes were dry - Grilled octopus (16,00€) - octopus leg was overcooked. Disappointing - Mosaiko - complimentary dessert (chocolate salami). Nothing mind blowing Run of the mill, touristy Greek fare. 2.5 stars.
