If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! We only spent two dinners in Athens and we went here 1st....we loved it so much we also went here for our 2nd dinner.

The food was incredible, and the atmosphere was great, but the service was truly above and beyond.

I have an allergy that is quite uncommon outside of Asia (I am not of Asian descent) and more often than not, people do not understand it. Buckwheat is not wheat, and not gluten, but it is a grain commonly used in gluten-free, and multigrain foods. When I travel, I make sure to have the translation pulled up on my phone, so I can communicate it clearly. However, much like in the US, this often does not help, because people aren't always aware of what buckwheat is, or what it could be in.

At first, this was also the case here. However, Katarina took extra time to not only understand the allergy, but to curate an entire meal for me that avoided it completely. When I mentioned some dishes which usually don't contain buckwheat, she double-checked anyway and refused to let me have anything that could have been cross-contaminated. Everything was delicious!

When we returned, we had a different server, and ordered the same dishes, but also added some desserts that I thought would be safe. Luckily, Katarina arrived just before dessert was served, changed mine, and made sure I didn't try my partner's. Sure enough, my partner said there was definitely buckwheat in what she had. The dessert she gave me wasn't even on the menu.

I cannot thank her enough for all of her help. And I cannot recommend this restaurant enough to all those passing through.

Thank you...

We heard many compliments about the moussaka. We arrived at the restaurant full of expectations. We wanted to order moussaka for everyone because it's the recommended dish. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible! You can only order one moussaka per table. They don't allow more! According to them, the concept is sharing plates, so you must have variety. The waiter got really angry at us for asking for more moussaka and didn't allow it. He was very impatient. We sat at a table where oil was dripping from the dish eaten by the previous diners. Afterwards, they cleaned it for us, and we anticipated the promised dining experience. The moussaka was definitely good. Everything else? Not to our taste. Of course, everyone can think differently. The waiter was not courteous at all. It was also very hot and no AC..The peak was waiting a long time to pay. After 20 minutes, we got up to the cashier to pay ourselves and were reprimanded, told to return to our table and wait patiently. Unbelievable. We waited and waited, and no one approached us. We finally left cash on the table and wanted to leave, and someone who appeared to be the manager literally prevented us from doing so. Of course, we left enough cash, but we felt completely invisible and humiliated. This is probably how they maintain a line outside – by not letting people inside leave. I've eaten at many restaurants in Athens, and in all of them, the food was wonderful, and we received amazing service. It's a shame that we dined at this restaurant on our last evening and were truly...

During our vacation in Athens, we had the delightful opportunity to dine at Restaurant Scholarhio on three separate occasions, each visit reaffirming our love for their exceptional cuisine and service. Nestled away from the bustling tourist traps, Scholarhio stands out not for its aggressive marketing, but for its genuine dedication to the culinary experience and customer satisfaction. The menu, a paradise for vegetarians and food lovers alike, offered some of the most memorable dishes we savored in Athens. The Giant beans, perfectly cooked and seasoned, were a testament to the simplicity of Greek cuisine done right. The spicy cheese dip was an absolute revelation, striking the right balance between heat and flavor, becoming an instant favorite. But it was the sweet Cherries dessert that truly captured our hearts, with its delicate balance of sweetness and texture. Beyond the food, the service at Scholarhio was unparalleled. The team, consisting of just four individuals including the owners, operated like a well-oiled machine, displaying an efficiency and attentiveness that was truly remarkable. Their warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel more like guests than customers. In summary, Scholarhio is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that celebrates the best of Greek hospitality and...

Firstly, kudos to the kitchen staff to provide great tasting food, otherwise it would be a much lower rating. The first ten minutes we almost walked out. We had called and made a reservation and had told them it was for 3 people. Upon arrival they sat us for a table for 4. We sat down and settled in to enjoy our dinner, but after 5 minutes they told us they sat us at the wrong table and got us up and moved us. This has NEVER happened to me. Then, they moved us to a tight corner where they had to move the table out so I could get in and not a few inches, but at least a foot (30 cm). If had I had to go to the washroom, it would not be possible because all our food and drink would be displaced. You would think we would got a discount, or free dessert for all this inconveniences, but no. The server came took our order and came back in about 10 minutes with everything we ordered, our drinks, salad, appetizer, main dishes. C'mon, basic 101 for restaurant food service, you don't do that. We couldn't enjoy the food because it was so rushed and so much at once. They don't care about the customer, but just how many they can serve. If you're in a hurry and don't want to relax, then, this is your place, otherwise go to one of the SO many other restaurants in the area.

We stopped by Restaurant Scholarhio for a late lunch while exploring the charming streets of Plaka, and it turned out to be one of our favorite meals in Athens. This cozy and authentic taverna is a true gem—relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and an impressive selection of delicious mezes that truly capture the spirit of Greek cuisine. Every dish we tried was fresh and full of flavor. From the creamy fava and perfectly seasoned tzatziki to the stuffed vine leaves and grilled vegetables, each plate was beautifully prepared and very satisfying. The meze-style menu is ideal for sharing and allows you to taste a bit of everything without feeling too heavy—perfect for a mid-day break during sightseeing. The staff was warm, welcoming, and very attentive. They took time to explain the dishes and offered great suggestions without being pushy. Even though there was a steady stream of customers, the service was fast and efficient. Prices were more than fair for the quality and portion sizes. We left feeling well-fed and happy, with a few new favorite dishes. If you’re wandering through Plaka and looking for a flavorful, relaxing lunch spot with real Greek charm, Scholarhio is a must.
