Summary: Do NOT come here. It's not worth it - do not come here if you have any self worth. The food is not that good and the service was the worst I've experienced in my whole life. [I don't usually write long reviews because I like to keep it short and simple. But this restaurant needs more than a couple sentences] Oh boy. Jesus Christ. Let's start at the beginning. I booked for dinner today 07/08/2021 at 7pm (via phone) for a party of three. We arrived approx. 4 minutes before seven to a more or less still empty restaurant. The waiter (I am not sure if he was also the manager, unclear) did not have my reservation - fair enough. He still led us to the seating area and proceeded to explain that we can push together two tables that are situated on the pavement to sit the three of us. We were confused as we had booked in advance and there were so many tables still free. The man assured us that *all* the tables were *fully* booked and this was all he could do. Fine, fair enough. We sat down on the crooked pavement and waited for an unusual amount of time for service personnel to come and take our order (there's only around 10 main dishes on the menu, it doesn't take that long to study). We ordered three main dishes. A strange detail was that another waiter taped - yes... Taped! - the receipt to our table straight after ordering. Once again, this was not explained and not something I would describe as 'best practice'. My partner's and friend's dishes arrived fairly quickly but they had to wait a good five minutes for their sides of French fries. My dish arrived an awkward 10 minutes - yes I timed it! - after theirs. Now, I've worked in gastronomy myself for several years and this - bringing out dishes for the same table more than max. two minutes apart - is unheard of. No knowledge of food and service industry whatsoever. By now, I'm starting to feel uncomfortable. When the waiter finally came with my dish, he placed it on the *opposite side of table to me* - yes, you are reading correctly, the opposite side - next to my friend's seat. We were all shocked about this behaviour. My friend's mouth literally dropped open as he handed me my plate. Embarrassing! As for the food: it was ok. Not bad, not over the top great, especially considering the price. I had the pappardelle which were all right, but nowhere near as great as described in other reviews. But perhaps it didn't taste that great because we were made to feel totally unwelcome! A detail that may interest some: this restaurant serves French fries but not ketchup. Or mayonnaise. Or any sauce that goes with fries. Only sauce they have is ... Pepper sauce. Can't make this up! Another wonderful detail: we were done with dinner by around 8.30 pm. At this time, two perfectly fine tables for 4 pax where still completely empty in the main seating area. We could have sat at a proper table the *whole* time! How lovely. At the end of the dinner, the three of us felt totally uncomfortable and quite angry, all we wanted to do was leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. Not how you want to spend your evening!

Before starting each review I like to close my eyes and think back to the place I will write about. I like to think about how I discovered it, how I ended up there, what did I eat or if it is a hotel how did I feel during my stay, how good was the food or how good were the services. Today's review is about a little place name Seychelles. OK, OK maybe not that little but intimate. Yes, this would be a better word. Reading all my reviews from Athens you might think that I'm crazy but there was not one place I tried that let me down. I spent a good deal of time in advance reading about places to eat, I asked a few friends from Athens for reccomandations and from all the places I ate in during my stay there only one did I just stepped in and ordered so ething to eat. All the others were pointed out by TripAdvisor, friend who visited Athens or even locals. Seychelles restaurant is situated on street Keramikou 49 in Athens, in a quiet place about 900 metres from Omonia Square or about 1 km from Monastiraki. The place has some tables outside also and from the moment I got in I was greeted by a young greek waiter who asked me if I plan to stay very late(all the tables were reserved after 21:00 hours) and also led me to a table. The menu is simple(not written on 100 pages), there are a limited number of dishes but I always enjoyed this approach. I chose to eat some ox tongue and a beetroot salad accompanied by a draft beer. As you can see from the photo the portions are decent to large and I can assure you that the food is delicious. The mezes, the main dish, the salad, they were all extremely good and I took my time enjoying them. I felt very bad that I couldn't handle a portion of desert because something from the menu had caught my eye and I was quite curious about it.(maybe next time in Athens I will return here once more). I can honestly say that this restaurant has great food and I would reccomend it with an open heart to anybody visiting Athens. The staff is great, there is music always in the speakers, the food tastes delicious so this place deserves a visit. Saving the best for last I must say that even though the food is great prices are very affordable so...what are you waiting for? 😊

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had all year. Seychelles’s vibe is that of a home, full of personality, warmth, and good food. We were blessed with seats at the bar where we got a peek into behind the scenes. Those who enjoy the cooking method will love these seats…however, it is clear from the atmosphere that there are only good seats in the house, inside or out. The service was perfect. Our waiter made excellent recommendations for us and it never felt like we were far from anyone to make a request, whether that be for dessert or espresso or the check. Now, let’s talk about the food. First off, there is a joyful balance in all the dishes. Nothing felt out of odds. Every bite of every dish was delicious. The bread was so warm and homemade but those olives!! So plump and fleshy and delicious. It’s very clear from everything we tasted that Seychelles values quality in their ingredients. Every very dish we saw move from the kitchen to the service area looked sublime. I was tempted to order more plates but my stomach didn’t let me eat more. The string bean salad was whimsical. The pairing of bean with grape and mint and hazelnut and lastly cheese was inspired. I still cannot get over the length of these beans. I’m still trying to understand my thoughts on the mullet…all I keep thinking is how it captured all the flavors of Japanese take out, which is a strange sentence and yet feels true. And the parpadele with the beef confit was a joyful process to watch AND eat. I could not get enough of this dish. This was a clear star and everyone at Seychelles knew it. My only regret is that I did not convince my husband to order the beef cheeks with me. I’ll never forget you, Seychelles…and I hope to be back soon. Xoxo

Extremely disappointing experience – I honestly want a full refund.

I came to Seychelles Athens with high expectations based on the stellar reviews, but sadly, the experience was poor from start to finish. I left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and honestly a bit scammed.

Seating: We were seated inside near the kitchen – noisy, stuffy, and far from the cozy vibe shown online. It felt more like being in a canteen than a restaurant that’s supposedly one of Athens’ best-rated. If you’re going to charge premium prices, at least provide a decent atmosphere.

Service: The service was fast, and the lady was friendly, which I appreciated. But unfortunately, fast service can’t make up for disappointing food and poor value.

Appetizer – Feta and Bread : The so-called appetizer was just a dollop of bland feta with some grilled flatbread and a few tomatoes. No seasoning, no herbs, no creative twist — just a plate I could’ve easily made better at home in 5 minutes. If you’re going to serve something so basic, at least elevate it with: – Fresh herbs like oregano, thyme, or dill – A drizzle of quality olive oil with chili flakes or honey – Roasted peppers or olives – Some kind of texture: crushed walnuts, seeds, or crispy onions There was zero wow-factor. Not worthy of a restaurant, especially one this highly rated.

Main – Octopus (€18.50): The octopus was cooked well, but it was absurdly small – probably not even 100g. And that’s being generous. I actually watched other guests receive much larger portions for the same dish, which made me feel cheated. Paying nearly €19 for what looked like half a tentacle is unacceptable. I expected a proper portion – at least something consistent and fair.

And then, the sides… The orange purée was bland and oddly sweet, and the green side was flavorless. The dish had no acidity, no crunch, no balance.

Here’s what would’ve actually complemented the octopus: – Lemon potatoes or grilled baby potatoes – A fresh, crunchy salad with capers, onions, and citrus – A smoky or tangy purée like aubergine, beetroot, or fava – Even a simple couscous or herbed rice would have been better What we got felt like an afterthought — lazy and unseasoned.

Price vs. Quality: I paid €31 for this meal and walked away hungry and disappointed. For Greek standards, this is very overpriced for the portion size and lack of culinary effort. The food didn’t match the reputation or the price.

Final Verdict: Below average food, inconsistent portions, poor value, and a bad seating experience. The octopus was the only decent item – but even that came in a laughably small portion and had terrible sides. I genuinely don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. It felt like we got the “tourist treatment.”

I expect a full refund for this experience. Not a discount, not an apology – a full refund. What I received was absolutely not worth €31 and far below acceptable standards.

I do not recommend Seychelles Athens and strongly suggest others manage their expectations before...

The specific day we ate, we paid 47 euros for two dishes and two entrée dishes (chorta courgettes and mushrooms- the second was nice but really very salty) and house wine half a kilo. My dish was a fish with courgettes. The fish was a very small melanouri, not fresh the dish was obviously cooked the previous day and not cooked well. It was so overcooked that it was dry. The size was so small and if you have to take out the bones and the skin of the fish, what remains is 6 bites of dried fish with lots of courgette sauce and courgettes-and it was so salty!! So in the end the dish is courgettes for 13,5 euros (no thank you). My friend had the grilled burgers which were ok, although not freshly made and really hard to digest. As for the service: one waitress in particular was so impolite and so bored in doing her job, that she nearly threw the plates at you. Let it be noted that it s nobody s fault if someone hasn t been yet on vacations. We haven t either, and we were just trying to enjoy a nice meal in the city. The other two girls were nice and polite that s why we left 3 euros tip, although they didn t bring us forks and knives and for 10 minutes we were staring at the chorta and courgette salade (not tasty) waiting for them to bring us the couver. Earlier on someone went to the bathroom and threw up. This is not the fault of the restaurant but in a time where hygiene is of essence, the bathroom was not disinfected properly. I don t know if they did it later on or after we left to be honest. I have been fairly many times to Seychelles restaurant and was quite happy with the food. But this was the last time. There are so many better restaurants, with fresh food and less pricey, that I do not think it deserves a second chance. I believe that when someone is able to serve you warmed up food once, he will do it again. So thank you but no thank you. If you are wondering why I ate it it s because I am on a diet and was very hungry and waiting the whole day to find a place to eat well. I was really looking forward and was really disappointed. So disappointed that I couldn t not write a review. This is a place where people line up for a table. They shouldn t treat customers like that.

Went back to Seychelles in March 2025 ago with a group of 10 people. We paid 350 euros (35 euros per person) and we practically ate nothing. Really overrated dishes, and the quality not worth their price.

The bathroom (2 toilettes up on a steep staircase) which is not clean (like 3 years ago) is not accessible to people of determination and the staff...
