An incredible all around experience at this very cozy and elegant restaurant near the Athens concert hall!
The service was excellent, the waiters were all very kind and very attentive without being constantly above our head which is often something that can be a little bit off putting. Here they respected our space and gave us everything we needed within seconds, including a really nice variety of liquors at the end of our dinner! One little detail I would like to note however, is that when ordering our food, and someone wants the "dish of the day" I would very kindly want to remind the waiters to inform the customer if there are multiple dishes and each dish's price individually!
The food was great. The highlight for me from the main dishes were the beef fillet with the peppercorn sauce and the Roquefort sauce, as well as the scallops. The beef was incredibly tender (I genuinely recommend medium rare and not more than that). They brought a massive plate of fries and an incredible amount of bearnaise sauce. The scallops were very intricate in flavour , sort of a small portion for a main dish but not something I personally mind because at the end we were all very full ! You could very much get this dish as a starter!
The appetizers were really good too, the mushrooms were very tasteful and the garlic was shining through positively. The truffle croquettes were also very tasty, but I would have liked if there was a bit more depth of flavour in them.
The desserts were incredible! Their chocolate soufflé is a must have, and the crème brulé is a classic!
I definitely recommend all food lovers to pay this restaurant a visit for a very welcoming, warm experience that will definitely leave you...
Read moreLast night it was time to try Spiros and Vasilis, we’ve heard some positive comments and then some not so much. How would we know unless we tried ourselves.
When you walked in the door you felt like you were walking into a typical French Bistro in Paris. A great start for sure and also the highlight of the night along with the decor of the restaurant. We were seated in a corner as we requested and the server brought over the menus and wine list.
Most if not all of the selections on the menu would be very similar to those in a classic bistro. We started with a French Chablis and for appetizers we opted for the escargot and steak tartare. The escargot was presented in the classic dish however it was a very poor rendition of what escargot really tastes like. The steak tartare was adequate at best. For entrees we ordered the duck breast and entrecôte. The duck breast was unfortunately over cooked and you couldn’t taste the orange sauce. One of the entrecôtes was good the other very chewy, the French fries were the hit of the night. For desert we ordered profiteroles which were actually very good.
I give the owners credit for trying to emulate a French Bistro, but for us it’s...
Read more~70pp for dinner w/ cocktail and wine. Great value and atmosphere all around. I deducted a star from food rating because i asked for my fillet to be rare and it was medium-rare, although it being a very good quality cut, plus the salads didn't excite me as much, the dressing in the chicory salad was not enough to coat the whole portion. Finally the chocolate soufflé was a bit uncooked in the middle, you couldn't taste the egg in it exactly, but the consistency was just above that point. We were a bit let down by the service because the servers forgot 2 tartare steaks at their workbench and while most of us had started eating, 2 companions of ours started dining a lot later. Even though we made a complaint they weren't courteous enough to deduct something...
