Castello — Restaurant in Kavala Municipality

Very Bad experience! Regular Pizza Margherita was 10,-€. One of the most expensive in Kavala if not the most expensive. Expectation was big. We saw the wood fired oven, the excellent evaluation in Google and TripAdvisor, the high price segment. So far so good. During the baking time I was waiting in front of the "Pizzaiolo", inside the Pizzeria. I've noticed the smell of spoiled food (like rotten cheese). Pizza was in the oven for more than 7 Minutes (Too much time for Italian Pizza)! When finished, the seemingly restaurant owner himself gave me the Pizza, without a shred of sympathy, without any smile. Only thing that came out of his mouth was: "ten!" What I got was this (Take a look on that picture). Only good moment was, when the waitress gave a Lego figure to my daughter to make her play a little bit and a bottle of water (for free) to my pregnant wife. Apart from the disgusting look, we checked the Pizza from below and it was really dirty. I'm not talking about the usual little remains of ash but DIRT! Pizza baker has not cleaned (enough?) the oven before putting the Pizza into it. We gave the Pizza a chance, but the first bite was too much! i've wanted to try Castello for a while, actually i was planning on eating there during summer but it didn't happen - anyway, so my review here is for a delivery, and just for their pasta, tortellini in particular. i'm gonna start with the negative, and that was the really excess oil. which also becomes messy with a delivery, but that is understandable and nobody's fault. the delivery guy was actually very polite. now, to the positives: first and foremost, biggest plus and the reason i recommend Castello, the quantity! these are BIG dishes! you can't eat one alone, one is good for two people! so that was a big, pleasant surprise! really commendable for the generous amount of pasta! price is definitely worth it, for how much food you get. 5, 6 euros? very reasonable. they are also generous with the sauce, and all the extras, rich flavour but depending on your taste. for example i expected to like the onions better, but i liked the bacon better afterall. looking forward to tasting their...

Η χειρότερη επιλογή. Χρόνια πελάτες είτε από κοντά είτε με delivery, αλλά πρώτη φορά συναντάμε τέτοιο περιστατικό οπουδήποτε και δεν πρόκειται να την προτιμήσουμε ξανά. Παραγγείλαμε μια πίτσα μεγάλη των 16 ευρώ και άλλα συνοδευτικά που ήταν μια χαρά. Όμως η special ήταν πραγματικά σαν ρυζόχαρτο, πιο λεπτή κι από καμένη αραβική, χωρίς ίχνος κόρας, σάλτσας και κασεριού (τα βασικότερα σε μία πίτσα). Επειδή θεώρησα πως θα έγινε κάποιο λάθος κι αυτό είναι ανθρώπινο, το ανέφερα στον σερβιτόρο ευγενέστατα, ο οποίος με ύφος και γεμάτος ειρωνεία μου απάντησε κατά λέξη "Και δηλαδή τι θέλεις τώρα γι'αυτό; Να φωνάξω το αφεντικό;" Του λέω "Όχι, δεν χρειάζεται, μία απλή αναφορά κάνω, γιατί θεωρώ πως δεν είναι ανάλογη η πίτσα του καταστήματος με αυτή που μας σερβιρίστηκε σήμερα." Προφανώς ειδοποίησε την υπεύθυνη, η οποία μας ενημέρωσε πως είναι αυθεντική ιταλική συνταγή σε ξυλόφουρνο και αποκλείεται να είμαστε πελάτες του καταστήματος χρόνια (κρίμα τα λεφτά που έχουμε δώσει κατά καιρούς, λες και είχαμε λόγο να πούμε ψέματα..), αφού πάντοτε έτσι την σερβίρουν και πως δεν μπορεί να κάνει κάτι που δεν είμαστε ευχαριστημένοι. Και όντως δεν χρειαζόταν να κάνει κάτι, απλώς θα μπορούσε να είναι πιο ανθρώπινη κι ευγενική η αντιμετώπιση τους. Το λιγότερο που θα μπορούσε όμως ήταν να αναφέρει πως ίσως έγινε κάποιο λάθος και να ζητήσει ανθρώπινα ένα συγγνώμη για την αγενή συμπεριφορά με την ελπίδα να μείνουμε ικανοποιημένοι σε μία μελλοντική μας επίσκεψη. Μετά από αυτά όμως, το χειρότερο ήταν πως όταν ζητήθηκε λογαριασμός, ο σερβιτόρος μας έφερε μια σελίδα από μπλοκάκι σημειώσεων με τις κλασικές μπλε γραμμές χειρόγραφη, ούτε καν αυτή των παραγγελιών... Έπρεπε πρώτα να πληρώσω και αφού δεν υπήρχε κίνηση εκ μέρους τους, να ζητήσω νόμιμη απόδειξη, για να φέρουν.
