During our recent stay in the area, we visited this restaurant twice, and while the experiences were consistent in some ways, our feelings about the food varied between visits.
One thing that remained constant was the fantastic staff. Every person we encountered was warm, friendly, and always smiling, which made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was quick and attentive on both occasions, which is always a huge plus.
As for the food, our first visit was fantastic. We started with a fresh, vibrant salad and a flavorful fava spread that set the tone for what felt like a perfect dinner. The highlight, though, was the sea bream with orzo – cooked to perfection, with the orzo beautifully complementing the fish. We left very impressed and eager to return.
Our second visit, however, didn’t quite live up to the first. This time, we ordered the octopus and the cod burger. Unfortunately, both dishes were underwhelming. The octopus lacked the tenderness and flavor we were hoping for, and the cod burger, while creative, didn’t match the quality of the sea bream we had before.
Overall, it's a restaurant with great service and a cozy atmosphere, but consistency in the food quality was hit or miss. If you stick to their signature dishes, like the sea bream, you're in...
Read moreI was really satisfied with the quality, price and service provided. This that I really liked was the modern touch that the dishes, based on traditional recipes, had. As a greek I am quite critical to those modernized greek dishes but in this case the taste and variety of dishes despite the modern touch did not compromise the traditional tastes. I ordered the following dishes. A greek salad: portion was good, ingredients really good, especially the feta cheese. Then I ordered the pie of the day, in my case was zucchini pie. It was really really tasty using a homemade fyllo (not every restaurant does that) with a nice yogurt sauce probably with some touch of lime and basil oil. Then I had octopus with fava, really tasty and the fava was tasty as well. As a main dish we ordered lauraki with krithataki, a kind of rissoto. Lauraki fish was cooked to the point but especially the krithataki was cooked perfectly...not much not less. The dish had also flavor of dill which amplified further the taste. For a drink we were suggested a ouzo, I was not aware of this brand, but the choice did not disappoint me at all. Highly...
Read morePerhaps the best contemporary restaurant on the entire island of Kefalonia (along with the other “Avli“ restaurant in Ratzakli - same name, same philosophy). Elena is a gem who provides very friendly service. The main star is the chef. A young female cook, known from a German TV show called “Kitchen Impossible,” who’s mission is to take traditional cuisine to the next level by reinterpreting it in a new, amazing way. Tasty and economical house wine (in the bottle) and the best food on the island, prepared by a chef who want to transform your understanding of Greece cuisine. We got the chance to talk to the chef and got to know her well. She is well traveled and unites the different tastes and flavors from all over the world by reinterpreting traditional Greek cuisine. We can highly recommend the Summery Salad and Mousaka. For vegetarians, the Cod Burger is perfect. But honestly, you can’t go wrong with whatever you order on the menu. Came back right the next day, to get another taste of her magic. Will come back any time possible. Amazing establishment and flair, super friendly and sweet staff, out of the...
