TAVERNA ZIOGAS — Restaurant in Meteora Municipality

We ordered meze betroot, zuccini, and main dish (meatballs in tomato sauce). The beetroot had a LOT of vinegar, which overpowered the whole dish, which was a shame. The meatballs were mediocre and a little bland. The ziccini, however, was surprisingly good. The best thing we ordered.

The service was really slow and we had to remind them that we ordered a beer to get it (after the food has already arrived). We were surprised how inattentive the staff was, since they did not have more than 5 other tables full.

The atmosphere is cute - there were some lovely and friendly cats. And the location is perfect.

But the high prices were a negative surprise for the below average service and...

Do not recommend. Not good food and they try to charge you for what you didn't ask. Just so you know, backed feta with vegetables is microwaved something with two thin slices of tomato and onion. Brought me bread and water, and while I did eat some bread, I didn't open the water bottle, and it was very clear, he could see it. They charged me for everything, which appeared to be 6,5 EUR instead of 4 EUR, and I didn't understand it first but then didn't even want to say anything, as the waiter didn't speak any English, apart from hello and pay. I am not picky with food and places but I think this one is just terrible,...

quite an interesting taverna. we arrived late afternoon on a greek holiday and the place was packed... they told us we would have to sit inside not in the garden.. no room took a while to place order because the place is large and was very full. I have to say well worth the wait. the .5litre house white was not bad but the food was amazing. my Japanese wife loves egg plant/aubergine.. she ordered the smoked aubergine and it was delicious. we shared a greek salad and pork souvlaki and it was excellent. I would give this place and 10... Definitely...
