Most Authentic Greek Food in Elounda

After being at Elounda for over a week we’ve been struggling to find a restaurant that has authentic Greek food that isn’t the same menu served at all of the restaurants in the town centre. Thea was just this place, amazing authentic flavours and traditional food. Whilst the views might be a little limited the food is amazing and service even better. We highly recommend the catch of the day and mussels made with a beautiful white wine sauce. Fresh seasonal vegetables, hand grilled pita to top it off and chocolate cake to end a perfect meal.

If I could give more than five stars for this place, I would. The food was absolutely delicious and they had some more unusual things; I had the ancient pork which had a stunning honey based sauce with it that was just amazing. It was also nice because it wasn’t all just seafood, they had a nice range of different meats and such, spaghetti carbonara etc., so good range. The best thing though was the hospitality. The hosts were so incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming, it felt like having a meal at home. The ambience was lovely too and I liked the decor of the restaurant. Stopped off for something simple. At this frequently passed by Taverna just outside the main town, with limited off road parking. Opted for the burger, with a humus starter. The burger consisted of two very tasty handmade beef rounds - not the usual manufactured patties in a dry bun with a piece of lettuce. This came with hand cut fries, coated in herb, and some salad. The humus was also very nice, accompanied by some warm pitta in herb. All finished off with a free glass of Raki.
