We were here from the 20th August to 9th September. We arrived near midnight to this very traditional, centuries old hotel and Costas looked down over the upper level mezzanine to welcome us. Our room (303) was quite large, aircon above door, kitchen area with stove and oven/grill and fridge. The bedroom had a stone-built bed and shelving with comfy mattress and everything else was all stone-built in the apartment. Costas, Maria and family were very welcoming and happy to give information on anything you asked about. There were two small Juliet balconies, one in each living space and an extra fan in the bedroom for the warm nights. ||On leaving the hotel, turning left, a minutes walk down to the marina and beach there's a few nice restaurants. Turning right out the hotel, uphill going past the small church you are in the town centre with loads of shops in less than ten minutes, At the bottom of the town centre there are loads of nice bars and restaurants overlooking the lake. The town is very hilly but you get used to it. The Mantraki is in a great position to enjoy all the resort has to offer. The hotel public areas are not huge but the comfy room makes up for that. We were even given a couple of small gifts when we checked out, a nice touch. All in all we would seriously consider the Mantraki again if and when we decide to return to...
Read moreI had the most wonderful stay at Mantraki Apartments in Agios Nikolaos. The hosts are truly some of the kindest and most helpful people on earth – warm, caring, and always ready to make your stay unforgettable. The apartments themselves are spacious, well-equipped, and have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
What really made my trip special was the owner’s incredible hospitality. He personally helped me plan all of my 4-day trip when I rented a car, suggesting the best routes, hidden gems, and must-see places around Crete. On top of that, he recommended the finest restaurants in town – from traditional Cretan tavernas to seafood spots – every single one was excellent.
And to make it even more memorable, the owner also plays the accordion beautifully, adding a personal and heartwarming touch that you won’t find anywhere else.
I can’t recommend Mantraki highly enough – not just for the great apartments, but for the amazing people who run it. It felt less like a hotel stay and more like visiting...
Read moreOur experience at Mantraki Apartment/hotel was very satisfying. We were warmly greeted by Nektaria, who provided us with multiple options for visits in the area. Then we were treated with meeting Maria and Kostas, fresh from an evening swim. They assured us that we were now members of their family. ||Our room was terrific with a large refrigerator, excellent sleeping arrangements, and a beautiful view from our balcony. ||While we were at Mantraki, we were treated to a musical performance from Kostas, friends, and a special song with Maria. ||We also were extremely blessed to view the Byzantine Church through a special tour with Kostas. ||If you are in Agios Nikolaos, you must stay at Mantraki Hotel Apartments, where you are not a tourist, but are...
