I gave 2 stars for a few reasons. To start, the live piano is really nice. When given the menu, no one came to see us to see if we have questions, he simply came to take the order and seemed annoyed we had questions. This isn't "fine dining" service. Then, the waiter gave us a bit of an attitude when he was mistaken about what was written on the menu. It has asterisks next to ingredients but no key for the asterisks and when we asked he answered "I think I already answered that and it's written on the menu." After this, he was more kind and professional, but it's a turn off to be met with this behavior at a "fine dining" restaurant. The asterisks meant the ingredient was frozen. For example, shrimp was frozen because it was out of season. You can't charge over 20€ for a plate of food that has a frozen ingredient. Or, if you're a gourmet, fine dining establishment, you should switch out your menu for fresh ingredients that are in season for that price tag. The view in the restaurant is nice, but it still doesn't justify the pricing because it shares that view with other restaurants. Next, the food was good, but I wouldn't say spectacular. Gazpacho was tasty. Wine was overpriced for that bottle. Greek wine isn't that expensive, we live in Iraklio and I haven't paid that much for a bottle from there. The service was decent after the first incident. They came to top off our wine a lot. The food was all served together. The thing that kind of put me over the edge was asking for a tip. This is not the norm in Greece, but they are asking because tourists don't typically know, and they think for "fine dining" they can ask. I don't think a tip was earned with that service, because I have the same service at a tavern (even better without the attitude) and they don't ask for tips. To earn a tip, you are required to go above and beyond, not do the minimum, and give me an attitude. I only agreed to tip because the one asking for a tip was the waiter topping off the wine. He was at our table a lot. The receipt they gave me was strange, listing every item as "menu...menu...menu". Overall, the establishment is overpriced for what it is, they want 5-star pricing without 5-star service. You can get better service and food elsewhere. Wouldn't go again. We paid 205€ for 3 people (3 starters, 3 mains, 2 desserts,...
Read moreFood wise: They bring you bread at the beginning regardless if you agree and charge 2.20 per person. The "king scallops" were tiny and they added peanut butter which ruined the taste of the scallops. Who is crazy enough to add peanut butter to scallops? The lamb fillet with bean puree was decently tasteless. The bean puree was a terribly bland pairing with the lamb that also had no flavor. The lamb also had some green flavorless green dust that didn't add anything culinary to the dish. The mushroom ravioli had a basil taste that made the whole thing hard to stomach. The honey mousse was pretty good. Not too sweet. All in all, they went experimental on almost all the dishes in all the wrong ways.
Service wise: When we got there, we wanted a view of the harbor. They said that we could sit for now and order. When one opened up, they'd let us switch. However, when the first two opened up, they then told us that those were booked. Unfortunately, we had already ordered. It wasn't till we complained that he even opened up the option that the 3rd table opening up, we could have. About ordering, when we asked the waiter what he recommended, he was little help and just pointed to the 3 most expensive things on the menu and asked which we wanted in an annoyed tone. I expect better service than that at a restaurant trying to be upscale. Against my better judgment, I stayed. I should of left right there and right then. Later I asked the same waiter about which of 3 desserts he'd recommend and he gave me a long speech about personal tastes and to get all of them. The other waiters were fine, but this guy ruined our night. Just an old man who hates tourists I guess. Later, he also tried to lie to us when he said he didn't charge us for bread. It was 2.20 per person.
Conclusion: With the exception of the view and the piano playing in the background, this restaurant isn't...
Read moreThe restaurant boasts a stunning panoramic location, set on elevated ground with a beautiful view overlooking a small lake. The atmosphere is elegant, meticulously curated in every detail, and enhanced by the pleasant presence of live piano music.
Among the positive aspects, I would highlight the charming location, the thoughtful interior design, and the attentive and courteous service provided by the staff.
What led me to rate the experience with three stars, however, was the culinary offering. The appetizer, consisting of grilled octopus and fried shrimp, was very good. However, the grilled tuna, priced at €33, did not meet expectations in terms of quality or presentation. For that price point, I would have expected something more refined—perhaps a tartare would have been a better choice to showcase the ingredient.
Another issue that negatively impacted my overall impression was the bread service. After we had finished the initial bread—served with three sauces and butter—we were asked if we would like some more. We agreed, but were then served only two small pieces of bread, which were charged as a full second portion. While I fully understand being charged for additional bread, I would have expected the same level of service and accompaniment as the first time. Serving just two pieces and charging the same price felt inappropriate and in poor taste.
Would I recommend it? Yes, I would—mainly for the setting and ambiance. However, I wouldn’t place it among the absolute must-try...
