Artemis Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

My fiancee and I were looking for a restaurant where we could have something to drink and eat. When we walked past this restaurant, we thought we could stay there because it looked good. We told the older gentleman who seated us at a table that we wanted something to drink and then something to eat. We ordered a beer, which we got pretty quickly, but when we wanted to order food, we have been waiting ages for the waiter. When the waitress finally came after a very long time and she brought us the menu, we were shortly ready to make an order but unfortunately the waiter continued to ignore us. Even the gentleman who seated us at the table has walked past us and looked at us, he saw that we were ready to order, but instead of saying anything to the staff, he just went to get his ice cream from the fridge and then walked past us again without doing anything. After this we were to pay and of course we said what we didn't like the service but the young man, who we believe is a manager or supervisor there, told us he apologises but we were at the table that was far away and for that reason no one saw us. That is not an excuse to ignore customers. May I add that the restaurant was not even full and our table was visibly from the bar… That was our worst experience of the whole trip in Crete . We have never felt so badly in any restaurant as we did in this . I would never go there again and I recommend everyone to avoid this restaurant. Stumbled across this restaurant by chance as it was near where we were staying and really glad we stopped by for dinner tonight. All the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. It's been the most welcoming restaurant we've been to in Chania. We had Dakos to start which I was incredibly grateful we shared, as the servings here are very generous! (You get 4 in a serving). After this I had the moussaka which was absolutely delicious. Again, the portion size was huge, but there was no chance I was leaving any! My wife had the chicken souvalaki which she really enjoyed. We also shared a 1L carafe of the house white which was excellent. All in all a lovely meal and great value for money. Would recommend to anyone! Lovely food and a stunning setting. This place really is an Oasis, with fruit and lush greenery growing all around you in the wonderfully atmospheric outdoor area. The food is also brilliant, I'd go with the greek food over other options (we didn't think the pizza matched up to the quality of the other food) a few notable menu items are - the Saganaki, the aubergine parcels, the gyros, definitely the chips (they come with a lovely herb seasoning) and the club sandwich on the lunch menu is very nice as well..
