Oinomelo Restaurant Stalos — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

We visited Oinomelo 4 times for dinner within a one week stay in Chania, after it was recommended by my family member who visited previously. This is honestly one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Everything from the food, service, warm hospitality and the prices is unbelievable. Elena the owner cannot do enough for her customers and really values everyone who comes through the doors. It's easy to see why people return year after year on their holidays. The food itself is out of this world, everything we ate as a group of 5 was exceptional. Some of our highlights were the lamb shank, mussels, stuffed potatoes, shrimp risotto, and the fillet steak is absolutely out of this world! Really good quality meat, cooked to perfection and accompanied by the tastiest sides. Everything was so fresh and prepared with passion. This place is a must visit for anyone in the area! Oh and the location is perfect, we had a great view of the sea and sunset from our table. 10/10...

As soon as you come in you feel welcomed... And English is great if you can't speak Greek.

We had a salad with the rusk in it, the zucchini croquettes, the lamb shanks, steak with cheese and the seafood paella..

My favourite was the lamb shank.. outstanding! The lamb was cooked perfectly ( fell apart and was so tender) and the sauce was just a perfect caramely gravy. No other word to describe it.

Second favourite was the steak with the cheese inside. We asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it came out as such. The cheese combo was great and the seasoning on the steak . I don't know what it was but it had a slight spice/ chilli to it that made it very tasty, and do not fear if you're not a spice person it's only slight.

Not many people know about this place as it is a little bit further from the centre of Stalos (not even that far, 100 metres from a popular crossroad) but I guess all true treasures remain buried. Well we have found this buried treasure and wish to share this with everybody as this is probably one of the best food places in all of Crete (and we’ve been all over the island, co we can compare). The owner is a wonderful and cheerful woman. The place has a cosy, miditerranean feel. But the food! The food will knock you sandals off, even if you consider yourself an connaisseur of greek cuisine. The quality of the food, the ability to join together different flavours here is like nothing we have ever tasted before. For us it was the steak in shrimp sauce that made us fall in love with them, but they have so many masterpieces in their menu that everybody will find somerhing to dream about when they return home.
