The best seafood in hersonissos!

This was the first taverna we visited during our stay, and we ordered the mixed fish platter for 2. What we received was a huge amount of delicious fresh fish, which tasted like the cook just caught it a few minutes before cooking and serving it to us. After finishing the food, we knew we had to come back here a second time.

The staff even helped me get the last good bits of the Dorado from the head. On top of that the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, and not pushy to get you inside like other restaurants nearby.

Since the food was so good, we decided to come back a second time. This time I had soutzoukakia(the food on the picture), while my partner had the seafood risotto. The soutzoukia was really good, but nothing compared to the seafood risotto. The risotto is not really risotto, but it tastes like heaven.

But wait, there is more! Not only is the food really good, and the staff incredibly friendly, the drinks are also really good! For a very reasonable price, you can order a variety of different juices, which are all freshly made.

Definitely go here if you want some good food, drinks, and service, all while having a nice view of the sea. Especially the seafood here will be some of the best...

While the view sure is nice, the service is really neither worthy of the fame of Cretan hospitality, nor of the prices. And unfortunately, with the service that bad, I couldn't enjoy the food or the ambiente. The whole time the men working there tested us not as guests but as nuisances. A glaring difference to every other establishment, be it tavernas or upper class restaurants, we've been to before. When we asked some questions about the dishes, they were met with an unfriendly grimace and an off-hand answer. And when our order got mixed up (which is okay, it can happen), instead of taking it away and apologizing, the gentleman started to gaslight us, trying to convince us it was what we ordered. One could argue it might be because it was a stressful rush hour, but no — it was the start of the day with just a few guests. So, if anyone cares to read this — I wouldn't recommend this place. Truly the best restaurant for dinner in the area! On our first night in Crete, we decided to try the fish platter — it was so delicious that we had to come back to try more food! It’s more than enough for two people; we could barely finish it. Just a tip: try to eat a bit quickly so the fish doesn’t get cold by the end. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They even helped us cut the big dorado to make sure we didn’t miss any of the meat. As a bonus, we were given a dessert at the end — we don’t even know what it was, but it was truly amazing! For our second dinner, I had the seafood risotto, and it was the best meal I’ve had in a long time! It was more like rice than a traditional risotto, and the photo didn’t do it justice — but trust me, it was so good I couldn’t stop eating or commenting on how delicious it was. I highly recommend this place and really hope I get the chance to come back in the future to try even more...
