Il Camino — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

I think it is one of the best restaurants in Crete. It overlooks the sea, which makes it breathtaking both day and night. The staff are more than courteous and welcoming, especially Mr. Besnik who is really very friendly and hospitable. They make you feel at home and this is the reason that prompted me to go there several times. They have a wide choice of dishes, from Cretan to Italian. My favorite dish was “fettuccine Alfredo”. Fair prices for a restaurant with a sea view, for example a Dinner for two with 1. Vine leaves 2. Bread with olive and butter paté 3. Two plates of fettuccine Alfredo 4. Watermelon 5. A bottle of coke and a of water, we paid only 28 €, and moreover, before the bill we were offered the typical Cretan grappa. Really great service, nothing I can complain about. Not a good experience. We ordered the boiled greens and the usual half-liter of watered down wine, which was fine. But then they messed up the orders for the main dishes, bringing different sides than we had asked for. Most unacceptable was an undercooked Chicken Kiev, that, after sending it back and being scoffed at by the waitstaff, was STILL undercooked when it returned. They then neglected us because we obviously were unhappy with the food and had to get up and practically walk out in order for them to take notice of our existence. Used to be a good restaurant. Keyword being used. After visiting recently I was greatly disappointed. The food was average but the prices compared to similar food quality at the area was pretty low. We were charged the price of half a pizza just for adding a single ingredient without being informed about it beforehand. As for the service despite being lawfully polite it was fake and slow. We had to ask several times for whatever we wanted (even to order or to pay) and almost felt guilty for asking for a glass.
