Star Light — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

What an amazing restaurant from a family with a history of delivering great food for 40 years.

My wife and I first ate at Stelios and Maria's staright restaurant in 1987. We loved it, having breakfast lunch and dinner there almost every day of our two week holiday. The hospitality was wonderful and the food was amazing, which is why we ate there so much.

We returned this year 2025 to find the same amazing food and the warmest of welcomes from a family providing this quality of hospitality their whole life. Popi and Nikos have taken on the mantle and are running the restaurant with their parents because Stelios abd Maria will never stop. Its in their blood.

Sadly, like most independent restaurants across the world, they are suffering because the large hotels provide economic all inclusive packages, meaning the locals, dont get the visitors they used to, or indeed, should be getting. After all, thats why most people go on holiday, to experience authentic food and hospitality, its certainly what makes Greece, Greece!

This is really recommended Super friendly staff What appealed to us most was that you are not obliged to eat there When passing by the waiter greeted us kindly and wished us a pleasant stay on the island After having seen all the restaurants where you still feel obliged to sit with them we decided to walk back to Star Light. Where we were welcomed with open arms Our waiter even came to tell us that his work day was over and he was going home but he immediately introduced his colleague to us who also did his job super In addition to the super friendly staff on the terrace there was also a real topper in the kitchen what a fantastic food and certainly for the prices they charge if we still have time this holiday we will definitely eat there again I would almost put the entire restaurant in my suitcase and take it home I would like to thank the staff for this great experience and hopefully...

Not often do we stumble across a restaurant where there isn't a owner or other personel waiting to lure you in, which in general is with a forced feeling! But not here. Here we were welcomed in by what I believe is the owner. Friendly and inviting, like we were being invited in to his home. We went here the first time for dinner and had the best meal since arriving on Crete. The food was top notch and the view just made it complete. Tonight we went back for a drink, upon walking to the restaurant the owner recognized us instantly we were welcomed in exactly the same way as before. No pressure and no force but pure friendliness. We had a fantastic evening here and enjoyed the fireworks show in the distance. If I could give 10 stars I would have, a must visit restaurant if your staying in or near...
