Paradosiakon — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

We showed up without a reservation and the restaurant was fully booked. However, they kindly informed us that a table would be available in 30 minutes and we appreciated the gesture and came back.

Unfortunately, after being seated, we had to wait over 35 minutes just to get the menus, even though the dining room was only half full by that time.

While the staff was polite, the service was clearly understaffed — only two waiters and at a certain time one chef the service at the tables…

It’s a shame, because the food is truly excellent: dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients of outstanding quality.

There is real care for the region’s culinary tradition, and the potential is evident.

With better organization and a more adequately staffed front-of-house team, the dining experience could rise to match the quality of the cuisine. Despite the service issues, it’s still worth dining here, the food alone makes...

Si alguna vez te encuentras en Heraklion, Creta, y buscas una auténtica y deliciosa experiencia de comida griega, no busques más allá de esta encantadora taberna. Mi reciente visita a este establecimiento fue un verdadero deleite para mis sentidos y un viaje directo a la esencia de la gastronomía griega.

Desde el momento en que entré en la taberna, fui recibido con una cálida bienvenida y un ambiente que evocaba la auténtica hospitalidad griega. Las paredes estaban adornadas con elementos tradicionales, y la música suave creaba una atmósfera relajante y acogedora.

La variedad en el menú era impresionante y reflejaba la riqueza de la cocina griega. Opté por comenzar con unas suculentas aceitunas Kalamata y un refrescante tzatziki acompañado de pan recién horneado. Cada bocado era una explosión de sabores frescos y genuinos. Como plato principal, elegí el moussaka, una deliciosa capa de berenjenas, carne molida y una rica bechamel, horneada a la perfección. La mezcla de ingredientes frescos y sazonados a la perfección me recordó a la cocina de las abuelas.

El servicio fue impecable. El personal estaba ansioso por compartir su conocimiento sobre los platos y la cultura culinaria griega. Fue un placer escuchar sus historias y aprender más sobre la tradición detrás de cada plato.

Sin duda, uno de los aspectos más destacados de mi experiencia fue el postre. Opté por el baklava, y fue una auténtica explosión de dulzura y textura. Cada capa crujiente de nueces y miel estaba cuidadosamente elaborada, y cada bocado era como un abrazo reconfortante.

En resumen, mi experiencia en esta taberna de comida griega en Heraklion fue inolvidable. Desde la autenticidad de los platos hasta la calidez del ambiente y la atención al detalle en el servicio, cada elemento se unió para crear una experiencia culinaria excepcional. Si buscas una verdadera muestra de la cocina griega en el corazón de Creta, no puedo recomendar esta taberna lo suficiente. ¡Es un destino obligado para los amantes de la buena comida...

Went in on the off chance it was not too busy, and we were lucky to get a table for the 6 of us to have a my birthday dinner. The menu is not too big but... The food was absolutely amazing, it was well cooked, well seasoned and very generous portions. Please be patient with the service, if it is busy they will be slow but they will get there. It is worth every ounce of patience. It was the best restaurant in Crete for us to be honest, and we ate at quite a few around. Price per portion is also good.
