Kastro Hotel — Hotel in Municipality of Heraklion

We came to the Kastro at short notice as we weren’t happy in our resort hotel and I’m so pleased we did. We had a good sized room with a huge bed, fridge, balcony and adequate wardrobe and counter top space. We had a look at the roof top terrace and thought it would be a lovely space to relax, but we just didn’t get the time during our short stay. The staff recommended some restaurants very close to the hotel and both were excellent with delicious food and great atmosphere. ||The breakfast was excellent too, there was everything I could think of: proper fresh orange juice, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, toast, bread rolls, sliced ham and cheese, local cheese, sausage/bacon/eggs, tea/coffee. All fresh and great quality. ||The hotel is close to the Historical Museum, the Natural History museum and the fortress. About 10 min walk to the Archaeological museum. There are taxis near the fortress and it’s 14E to Knossos or to the airport. ||The staff were very helpful answering questions and we were able to store luggage on our last day after checking out, and use the toilet facilities in reception before heading to the airport. I stayed at the hotel for what was essentially a 3-day domestic business trip. I have to say I was really pleased by my experience! The room was exactly what I expected based on the description - comfortable, with a desk, a mini-fridge and a rather spacious bathroom, while the cleaning services did a thorough job daily. Although few and brief, my interactions with the staff all went rather smoothly. The best part was, surprisingly, the breakfast! Guests are absolutely spoiled for choice, ranging from classic breakfast ingredents like toast bread, butter & marmelade to local white cheeses (φέτα, ξινομυζήθρα, τυροκαυτερή), raw or boiled vegetables, olive oil and other Cretan products and healthy stuff! As someone who doesn't usually eat breakfast or rave about food, I haven't seen such variety of options at any hotel I have visited in other Greek islands, so I felt compelled to comment on it. I have no negatives to point out, so all in all, I had a lovely stay, and I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting...

One city hotel in the center of Heraklion with nice renovated rooms and and its near the morzinis lions fountain and the shopping center of heraklion.verry clean and well made rooms with nice bathrooms and accommodations as iron,safe, coffee machine ,tv and water heater.some of the rooms have also complimentary breakfast or with an extra charge you can have it as well.it contains cold cuts as ham,turkey, feta cheese and gouda,orange juice,coffee ar tea and other beverages.Omelets and bacon with sausages are also an option and some pies than like cheese or spinach pie,yogurt with fruits ,honey a variety of breads and bread sticks and some other siders also.Also dont forget to take pancakes from the automatic maker is nice.The room prices are almost valued for money(maby it can be cheaper some days in the week ) and the restaurant is clean and spacious for the size of the hotel.
