The loukoumades were hands down the best we've ever had – perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, and drizzled with just the right amount of honey and cinnamon. The bougatsa was equally divine: rich, flaky, and full of creamy, comforting flavor that instantly transports you to another time.

But what truly sets this café apart is the warmth of its host, Vassilis. He welcomed us like old friends, shared stories, and made us feel like part of the family. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated.

This café has been open for over 100 years, and it shows – not just in the quality of the food, but in the soul of the place. Every corner tells a story, every dish carries tradition, and every guest is treated like more than just a customer.

the place is amazing.. I came in the early morning, searching a coffee, because i got awake of the cleaners of the street. The very nice women with the orange long hair smiled at 6 o clock and gave me a coffee. After that i realised that this place, just founded by accident, is the place to be. I went around Heraklion, but this place Philosophies is fantastico. An artisic place, where you drink , eat and buy artistic things. Its a meetingplace for everybody. Just good vibes!!! T- shirts, cups, caps.. with great artisic things. The wonderful place is 100 years old , so you can feel the spirit here. If Bankers, Tourists, old or young, normal or crazy.. everybody is just nice to you! Efcharisto polí! Been recommended by a lady where we purchased some homemade jewellery, so happy that we listened her recommendation! The place is right on a plaza, pretty crowded but you can really feel the city. The restaurant is clean, super pretty and the staff adorable and efficient! Tony was the absolute best! He was running everywhere making sure that everyone was happy and looked after, and they were crazy busy. The care for details and customer service are surely Tony’s priority. He looked after us and he was extremely funny too. The food is sooooo good there!! Pie of the day, cheese pie, spinach pie and the Cretan pizza were amazing, appreciated a lot the complementary mixed nuts with the beers, so tasty! 🤩 A must try the bougatsa, gorgeous and typical. I work in hospitality myself and the whole team was working hard delivering a quick and efficient service. The price is such a surprise as we were expecting to pay at least double.
