It has been 13 years that we visit Kos, and this is the second time that we are visiting this place. As most of the places in Kos this restaurant has two kind of service, pleasant and kind if you are local and rude and unbearable if you are a tourist. We made a booking for a table and of course our table was not ready, the tables reserved for the locals were ready and with nobody seated. We waited as we know that problems can happen… we order appetizers and the main courses. All the locals were served before us and after 40 (!?) minutes of waiting we got the main courses. The waiter was completely clueless about the appetizers and we got them after another 30 minutes ending up with a table full of plates and no hunger any more of course. The tzatziki was good and the Greek salad was good as well. The zucchini flower with cheese were full of old oil (it was impossible to taste the cheese and the zucchini flower). As a main course we got chicken souvlaki (mainly burned) and pork souvlaki (mainly chewing gum). When we complained about the service the owner with an arrogant attitude told us “tonight we got a lot of people”. Well if you are not able to manage your restaurant, maybe you should go to a famous burger place to flip burger. As an owner, you do a mess, you apologize, you do not start to be arrogant. To recap if you are a villager from Kos or you are coming from a Nordic country where the food is anyway tasteless, you should definitely book a table here. If you have a bit of self esteem, go somewhere else.
Update after the comment from the restaurant: You did treated us like “they are just passing by, who cares”. Matter of fact you were really rude with my wife saying “it’s a busy night” I don’t think the doctor forced you to open a restaurant. We were respectful with you and your staff, you were not with us, period. So next time instead of acting in that arrogant way, say sorry we made a mistake because our kitchen is not able to manage this amount of people. Some of the dishes were not even ment to go out of the kitchen. But your “chef” didn’t care, your waiters didn’t care that one table was waiting for 40 minutes to get something to eat… you just do not care because from your point of view we were just a family of four to get money from. So, live your dream of “friends” that are writing fake review and...
Read moreBest food I've tasted and made me realise I do actually enjoy a lot more things than I thought I did. Drinks were just what you'd expect but should avoid the prosecco/wine according to my family. Together we pretty much had 30% of the menu options (it's not that big but definitely not small, also they'll happily make whatever variation you want) and all were at least 8.5/10 in their respective meal choice, multiple 10/10s, the only one that apparently fell short is the calamari (it was some kind of raw octopus variation) and I suppose chips but you can easily add salt/pepper (the shakers worked!! They usually never do), they'll probably give you paprika and other popular spices if you ask for it.
Service was a positively mixed bag, we didn't have a reservation and they specifically told us that we'll have the least priority before even going in. There was also a big Greek family (about 35 people) celebrating a birthday, they obviously got priority, the restaurant can only seat about 75, despite that we had overall average wait times which was fast all things considered. Servers were incredibly skilled compared to the more touristy restaurants, they'd do occasional tricks and were up to having a friendly chat/mainly joking around or just generally messing with people (in a friendly way), didn't hear a single spill or drop the entire time. Waiters also know the best taxi services and will try over and over to help you, usually they charge €15-25 where we were staying but they managed to get it for €10.
Atmosphere can only be described as authentic, personally I prefer the quieter ones but it also isn't as bad as a British bar. There was probably 2 other tourists which is honestly a good sign. Everything was cleaned to a noticeably higher standard than the nearby restaurants. Toilets were just fine, not that it really matters.
Food: 9.3/10 Service: 8.7/10 Atmosphere: can range anywhere from 1-10/10 Price: can easily get a nice sized main for €10, they are bigger yet similar price to nearby places, drinks are like €3
Much better than the nearby areas, especially Hirodion, no idea how that place has a 4.8/5, this is better in every way except the chips, they rush you a little, the menus are significantly less descriptive/no pictures (you can just ask...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended by the owner of our apartment. As we were on the outskirts of Kos, and not many restaurants near us were open we ended up eating here on three of the five nights we were in Kos. We found the food to good quality and reasonably priced. However the service is a bit hit and miss which is why I have not given 5. It is a large restaurant with indoor and outdoor eating, we ate indoors each visit. Highlights of the food we had were:spinach and yoghurt, sea bream, lamb chops and fava dip. On the first visit it proved difficult to get the bill, we finally got someone's attention but had to ask again. On the second occasion after finishing our starters we waited a long time before being told our main courses had been thought served. They then turned up quickly, we were told that they had been taken from other people's orders. We were offered a choice of free liqueur or dessert as recompense which was fine. However whilst waiting we noticed that the waiters were not always sure where they were taking food meaning that plates of food were cooling whilst this was clarified. One table asked for the bill and got a basket of bread. On the third occasion after starters we ordered a souvlaki, tsaziki and grilled vegetables to share but the Vegetables arrived 10 minutes before the meat which we had to remind them about.
A really good restaurant which just needs to improve on...
