Degli Amici — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

We have just stayed in Kos for the past 10 days and have visited Degli Amici 3 times, due to both the amazing food and people running this brilliant restaurant.

The first visit was a late one as we had just arrived in Kos and needed a late night bite - we headed here and asked if it was possible for them to make a pizza to takeaway; no problem, the staff member told us to take a seat and in 10 minutes we had a lovely fresh, authentic pizza to take back to our hotel.

The other two times we came back and had various pasta dishes which were also delicious, especially accompanied by their garlic foccacia bread which was also freshly made. To finish, we had a creme brûlée to share which as you can guess, was once again amazing!

It’s all good and well having amazing food, but it’s nothing without great staff. They were all fantastic and attentive, including what I presume was the owner who recognised us from our first visit and made us feel well at home on all of our visits. He showed a real passion for his restaurant and this is definitely reflected in the food they serve!

What a terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff are downright rude. Around us, several orders for other guests went wrong, and whenever people pointed it out, the staff snapped back, yanked food off the table or out of people’s hands, and stormed off in outrage.

After our meal, it was our turn. I went to pay. The waitress had made a mistake, she rang up three pizzas instead of two and a carafe of wine. She realized it, corrected the total on the bill, and told me I could pay the right amount inside by card.

At the register, however, a different staff member insisted he couldn’t adjust the mistake and demanded cash instead. I explained politely that I didn’t have cash. He got angry, started swearing, and made me pay the full (wrong) amount by card, only to grudgingly throw the difference back in cash, still muttering under his breath. As I walked away, he exploded into shouting and cursing. Moments later, I saw him do the same to his own waitress. Truly...

We went here back in April 2022 but I completely forgot to write a review until I just found the restaurant card.

The price we paid is for food and soft and alcoholic drinks.

We loved this restaurant and went there twice during our stay. Once for dinner and once for lunch which both times were lovely and the food was amazing. The owner was so welcoming and kind.

The food was top quality and fresh, probably the best restaurant we’ve ever been too. Extremely reasonable prices for how good the food is.

We tried the pizza, pasta and steak which were all mouth watering. The steak was out of this world and we just wanted to eat more of it, never had a steak like it and worth every penny also it was really filling.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant so please support the owner as he had a really tough time during covid and his business just about survived.
