The food was good, and the place is very charming thanks to the colorful decor. However, the attitude of the owners ruins the atmosphere. The owner walks around the tables, shouting table numbers at the waiters and asking why they ordered so little, or hurrying the guests to leave so the table can be freed.
My husband and I entered the restaurant very hungry. We ordered appetizers and drinks to start (about 35 euros), and asked the waiter to give us a moment to decide on the main dishes. We wanted to get the appetizers quickly. A minute later, the owner's son came over and said they were having issues in the kitchen and that we needed to order the main courses immediately. He also told our waiter that we were just going to sit there, only ordering appetizers, and that we definitely wouldn't order anything else, so he should take our full order right away.
I speak English with my husband, but I also understand and speak Greek. I understand that a restaurant needs to make money, but your menu claims to offer a "family atmosphere." We came to a restaurant, not a fast food place, and we didn’t expect to be rushed. People come here on vacation; they want to enjoy their dinner in peace. The tables next to us had similar feelings.
Thanks to Nikos, our waiter, who saved the situation with his attitude :) I don’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a true Greek atmosphere. Because of their behavior and "hovering" over our plates, our evening...
Read moreMe and my family ( husband and two toddler) were walking around Kos town, and came across this eye catching place so we decided to sit in and have a drink and see the menu. We were not hungry but thought we can have some sharing platter or any starter if we fancy anything. It was around 5pm so it was empty. We checked the menu and didnt really like to eat anything , so we wanted to order just drinks...then the waiter got angry and said we cant just have drinks , we have to order food. I said we dont want food we are thirsty. Then he said he will ask his manager. He then came back and refused again and said in an extremely rude way that if we dont like anything from the menu we can go somewhere else.... He didnt even look at me, just basically treated me like a piece of ....... I have never in my life been treated like this ever. It wasnt even dinner rush..the place was empty. I have been to many restaurants and if u dont order food just drinks and coffee it's still fine, because that is business , and we were to pay for it. In the middle of the summer in the heat , a couple with little children wants to order drinks and spend money...and you refuse.. This bad experience ruined my day, but thankfully, it is not gonna spoil my opinion about the awesomeness of...
Read moreAt first we were a bit worried to go there because of some of the bad google reviews here. But I fell in love so much with the colorful and cozy look of the restaurant, that looks so inviting, that we tried anyway. Luckily! Because we had a very lovely evening there. The host might seem a bit grumpy at first but he is very friendly and accommodating. The food is very tasty and of a high quality (but since we are a vegetarian couple we can't judge the meat-dishes). The prices are good and the atmosphere is so lovely. To the bad reviews: we can not confirm them. We haven't been there to experience what other people experienced but one thought on this: We went to the zorbas in April during the "low-season" and everything: the cook, the host etc. were quite relaxed and kind. But I can only imagine how stressed out they must be in july or august when the rather big restaurant is full of tourists, who expect to be treated like ancient gods. I think every guest/tourist should bring a tiny amount of empathy for those hard working people. Gastronomy isn't an easy business after all. Therefore my appeal: go there, try it and be a bit generous if you visit them in summer season. I think we will go there for a third time before we leave Kos on thursday. I hope...
