Greek family - 2020 - COVID

The owner treats the potential customer like a mobile wallet with zero respect. Amidst the COVID measures, he was impolitely pushing us from the doorstep of the tavern to get in and started with silly jokes with the palms, that less and less people would feel comfortable with. Contentwise, he started speaking arrogantly about his life in the US, as if he was speaking to humble villagers who knew no land outside their village. The menus, when asked for, were blatantly handwritten and probably differed according to nationality (Greeks or not). Prices were higher than the average and variety no more than a poor corner kebab place plus two or three Cretan dishes. Unfortunately, as being a Greek family and able to judge if something is worth a visit, we decided to leave the table without ordering. Disappointing experience. Came a second time after a lunch we had 2 days ago of lamb chops and dakos salad, of which only the accompanying fries and the dakos salad were good-the lamb chops were tiny, faty, salted and dry. The second time, I ordered lamb with artichoke and fries (because the first time they were good). Now they brought us fries that were burnt and raw inside (I don't understand how they even had the gut to bring something like this to the table!). I sent the fries back, they brought other ones which were just a little better. The lamb was just ordinary, nothing special-portion small. Tasty food and generous portions. Dessert was served complimentary at the end. We ordered chicken, lamb, ribs, and schnitzel, with the option of rice or potatoes. We chose rice, which was very flavorful, with a hint of sweet floral taste. The chicken was tender and well-cooked, and the lamb was extremely soft and delicious, with no strong lamb taste. However, the ribs were slightly rubbery. The food lacked salt, but this seems common across Crete. The service was excellen, the waitress was friendly and communicative, a truly pleasant person. Outdoors, ceiling fans made it comfortable even in the hot weather. The prices seemed a bit higher than usual. But still...
