Diporto — Restaurant in Municipality of Milos

After a day of traversing the hills and languid country lanes between Tsigrado in the south and Plaka in the north, a little bit sunburnt, thoroughly pooped, but wholeheartedly chuffed and filled by a sense of adventure and the golden rays of the Aegean sun, we were so pleased by the warm welcome at this unassuming yet charmingly decorated tavern where our feet could at last take a rest. With a chequerboard floor and the local radio switched on, myself and my girlfriend immediately felt at home. Our waiter, a young man, with impish eyes and a chirpy demeanor was swift on his feet and brought our food out quickly (delicious!). An old fella sat on his laptop in the back ground, whilst a lady sat beside, whether she was asleep or not I could not tell, but she looked comfortable, that’s for sure. Ah yes, we were all comfortable on that deep, dark evening where the stars shone bright and a purring cat sat at our feet. What more could one ask for? We played cards and drank till late, I lost the game, but, you know, we all won the night....

Don’t overlook this gem!

While visiting Plaka, we initially checked out the two main restaurants at the entrance of the old town. They were okay... but if you're after delicious, traditional Greek food with a warm, family-run feel - this is the place!

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, the outdoor seating area is charming and peaceful, giving off true Greek taverna vibes. The staff were fantastic - super friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.

As for the food, the standout dishes for us were the octopus in vinegar and the sausage - absolutely incredible!

Price for a full meal with 3 starters, two mains and a 2 bottles of wine was €80! So good

I couldn't find a single redeeming quality in this restaurant. I believe greek food even in the worse shape is good. This restaurant proved me wrong. Aside from the bellow average food that tasted like oil and salt, the quantity and the prices also didn't match. But for me the worse was how unfriendly the staff was. We waited so long for a catalogue and when I finally asked they only brought us 1(one) for 6 people! The waiter also looked frustrated when I asked for more. I was going to give 2 stars since I am against 1 star but the cherry on top was that when I payed and told the owner the food wasn't that good the lady said "what do you want...
