I would highly recommend a visit to this beautiful and sacred place. The catacombs have been carefully restored so that visitors can see them. Considering how the area had been badly treated in the past, before becoming a protected area, I think the team that did the restoration have done an excellent job. The guide was very informative and helpful. She gave the tour in English and Greek. There was no rush to look around and if you are curious to know more about the history the guide invites you to ask questions. My experience was that the tour will take as long as you want it too. We asked many questions about the history and size of the whole catacomb area. The guide was patient and ready to answer our questions. The catacomb was creatively displayed with good lighting. We were able to take photographs without a flash. This is an incredibly important historic site for early Christian settlers on Milos and it is a joy to see it lovingly restored and protected.

This underground Christian cemetery, dating back to the 1st-5th century AD, is one of the important underground tombs discovered to date. Originally used as a cemetery, the area was also used as a hiding place and place of worship for Christians during the Roman period. The tombs, where more than 2000 people are estimated to be buried, are very well preserved and very well arranged for visits. It is a place worth visiting and offers its visitors a different experience in a different atmosphere. There is a reasonable fee of 4€ to visit and they let you in in small groups periodically. The visits consist of a short tour and are accompanied by a guide. Our guide was polite and had a nice tone of explanation. The guide proved that he was knowledgeable about the place he was in with his short and descriptive answers to the questions.

A must short visit to learn about the history of the catacombs in Milos. You will have a short tour with the tour guide and a few other people inside. Small place with two caves were the catacombs are located. It is best to visit in the morning & combine it with a walk in the area to visit the spot of where the statue of Aphrodete was found, the ancient theatre and the little chapel on top of the mountain (Prophet Elias Holy Chapel). There are plenty of nice spots with a view to Κlima and there is a path that you can follow in order to arrive there by foot. Don't forget to wear sunscreen & a hat. Take a lot of water with you and wear sport shoes.

(For English, proceed reeding below greek text. Thank you.) We were given a detailed tour by Mr. Dimitrios Nikos (if I remember his name correctly), eager to answer every single question. It is a special place with a very important historical value, as it is one of the three most important catacombs in the world (a total of 74 have been discovered). However, local authorities (and maybe "government " as well), do not seem to value this important historical site . It does not provide potable water or toilets for either visitors or staff, necessary issues that would make a tourist want to stay a little longer in the site, wonder and browse more flexibly. Apart from that, only a part of the catacombs has been discovered, having the process of the excavations finished, which indicates a partial indifference towards the emergence of this important and historical monument.

Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were surprised that entry (€4 each) included a guide who was absolutely amazing. It was only two of us so it was like we had our own private tour. The Catacombs themselves were also amazing and the surrounding vista is breathtaking. Make sure to visit the original location of the Aphrodite of Milos (Venus Di Milo) and Ampitheatre of Milos as well which are within walking distance.

Review scoring: 3 as expected based on price, quality and reputation, ie as expected. 4 better than expected and 2 lower quality than expected. 5 absolutely outstanding in all respects against expectations; food quality and presentation, staff, decor and atmosphere. Quite cool, dates back to 100 ad. Small area open but contains 300 family graves. Interesting man made cave in volcanic rock.
