If you are in Mykonos, you are doing a disservice to yourself if you do not see this museum. An eclectic assortment of artifacts from pottery to jewelry to marble and contemporary pieces. The center piece is a large clay "cauldron" depicting the Trojan war and in particular the story of the Trojan horse. The etchings are truly horrifying, with scene of the Trojans slaughtering women and children en masse indiscriminately and callously . The looks on their faces are truly disturbing and haunting. Even though this is barbaric our society now uses carpet bombs, chemical warfare and rocket propelled grenades to kill more people faster and from a distance. I wonder what is worse? ...
Read moreThis museum was a quaint little typical Greek museum- lots of artifacts and not much else. NO LONGER!!! An amazing exhibit "Vanity" tracking Cycladean jewelry from the 5000s B.C. (yes that was 5000 BC) to the 1800s AD. Excellent presentation with detailed descriptions and background info allows you to track the rise and fall of succeeding civilizations from the Neolithic, to the Cycladean, Minoan, Greek, Hellenistic/Roman, Byzantine, and finally Venetian times...don't miss it! I was a bit disappointed to be honest. 3 stars because the info tablets were nicely done and informativ and some the exhibits were really interesting.
