A very bad experience staying at Krina Mare Boutique Hotel. We booked 4 nights in the Junior Suite (called Ouranos). We selected this room as it stated online this room came with kitchen and utensils for cooking. I even requested this in an email to super confirm this was the case. On arrival we were told by Marie the house manager it was illegal to cook the rooms. “Apparently” hotels on the island have cracked down on boutique hotels offering kitchens in apartments, so hospitality regulators on Naxos have banned this. (Or so we were told). We were not even allowed to use the stove element to make a coffee. Disappointed that I had already paid for a kitchen and there was no refund, I accepted this dilemma. However, as I was travelling with bread and very hungry having flown 36 hours from Australia, I simply warmed a slice of bread for 2 mins holding it above the stove element. No contact at all to the stove. As the room is fully underground with no natural light (except a light well with 2 other air con motors and windows in it for other rooms above us) the smell of warm bread apparently travelled up. Within minutes Marie confronted me in the foyer and advised I could incur a 5,000 Euro fine. Her manner was very aggressive and confronting. She advised that she has had to lie to the hotel owner who has also received a call about my “behaviour”. (I only warmed the bread 5 min prior). I’m a polite and respectful 64yo woman who has travelled extensively and I have also managed Airbnbs for over 15 years (greeting guests within my home) and would never speak so rudely to someone like this. It was so loud that when I returned to the room, my partner , who was in the shower at the time, remarked that someone was yelling in the hotel so loudly he could hear it under running water. I informed him the assault was aimed at me. Not only this, we were quizzed on why we were staying in the room during the day as this was causing an inconvenience in her not being able to make the bed. For goodness sake, we had just travelled across the globe for 36 hours! We needed to rest. Mary is extremely rude stressed (she informed me of this and had even been admitted to hospital) in her job and taking it out on guests. I’d never stay there again and can’t recommend this place. A check online today still states the Junior room comes complete with kitchen and utensils. 0 out of 5 stars for honesty...
Read moreWe booked this place for 4 nights in Naxos, hoping for a relaxing stay, but unfortunately, we ended up leaving immediately after checking in — and forfeiting €650 — due to the unacceptable state of the room.
Upon arrival (which was already late in the evening due to a delayed ferry), we were met with a room that was simply not clean. There was what appeared to be cockroach droppings on the walls, exposed nails, and an empty soap dispenser in the bathroom meaning basic hygiene and safety standards were clearly not met. The room felt more like an overpriced backpackers’ hostel than a place suitable for a family.
Although we were offered a larger room, the condition of the first one left us with zero confidence that any upgrade would be better. With hungry kids and no time or energy to deal with further disappointment, we made the decision to leave and book elsewhere.
This was a frustrating and expensive experience, and I would not recommend this property to families or anyone expecting a clean and well-maintained place to stay
EDIT: After leaving my review, the owner had the audacity to falsely accuse me of breaking a chair and ripping two sheets—over a week after our stay was supposed to end. She demanded €200 for these bogus claims, yet provided no photo evidence whatsoever. If any damage had actually occurred during our brief 10-minute presence at the property (we forfeited a 4-night stay), surely it would have been reported to Booking.com immediately? This is not Greek hospitality. Avoid this place at all costs and don’t be misled by the...
Read morewe stayed at Krina Mare for 4 nights and had a pleasant experience. the room was very nice and pretty, quite modern with good wifi and air conditioning. it was a big room with lots of space, but not much closet/storage space.
unfortunately, the breakfast was a bit underwhelming. the options were quite limited; we would’ve loved some fresh juice/real juice, but there was only a syrup diluted with water. the coffee was unfortunately also very watery. we ate breakfast at different times each day, and sadly there was not always bread/pastries/ham or cheese available, but it’s okay. however, there was a selection of fruit, which was nice. on our last day we had to leave at around 8:45 to catch a ferry and breakfast wasn’t ready yet, but the nice lady at the reception and the owner (i think) made an effort to speed up the process and give us something to eat and drink before our trip, so thank you very much for that ☺️🙏🏼
other than that, the reception was always helpful, it was also easy to get in contact with them through whatsapp throughout the day, which was very appreciated ☺️
the location was also great, very close to the city centre but quiet and relaxing. you don’t get all of that noise of the busy streets which was great, and you could be in the centre within minutes of walking. there was also some parking nearby so that was...
