Everything was fine except the fact there's no memu, what created unnecessary problems. I was asked if I want something to drink. I asked for a fresh orange juice - they said they don't have. So I asked for a home made lemonade - they said they don't have. So I asked what they have - they proposed Sprite. I said I don't like sparkling drinks. There was a consternation. To finish this pointless conversation I asked for water - this went through. Unfortunately, I don't know what other beverages they offer. Then they asked us to go to their kitchen to select a fish. That was nice experience. We picked one called in Greek 'Sukios' (I think in English it is called 'brown meagre'). As there is no menu, we didn't know the price. Anyway we ordered it. It was recommended as 'a fish for 2 people'. We ate it but the amount of meat was not that much. I'd say similar to a large Sea bram, that's a fish for 1 person. When we got the bill it was stated the fish was 60 EUR/kg and ours cost 50 EUR. That meal was not worth it. In other restaurants you can have three Sea breams for a total of less than 50 EUR. This ruined the experience. Even if the fish was tasty, 50 EUR left a feeling we...
Read moreWe went for the fresh fish, but we didn’t got hooked. Food was fine overall. And this is a 3.5 review tbh. The Brown meagre was well grilled with nice potatoes and a well seasoned salad, but the fish wasn’t as fresh as expected for a fisherman tavern. Since there is no menu, we were asked to the kitchen to choose the fish we wanted. Probably because it’s the beginning of the low season, the fishes had +2/3 days there, cause they weren’t shining or/with silver eyes (signs of freshness) but were still good to eat. The sardines as starter weren’t fresh either. Being a Portuguese with fish ready available, gives a skill that what you are eating, and this place could had more attention to detail considering it’s not cheap. 57€ for the fish, 2 beers and a glass of wine. I would consider it fair if the fish was fresher tho.
I feel like this place is luck dependent during shoulder/low season regarding to the freshness of the catches because clearly they know what they are doing with the fish and how to...
Read moreIn my opinion the ratings for most restaurants in Corfu are too generous, the food was not as great as in other parts of Greece for the second year in a row. Anyway, you can find well prepared fish all over Corfu but if you like fish and want to enjoy a deliciously prepared fish it is worth coming to TVF taverna. We ate at this taverna twice and were thinking about coming a third time. They open at 6pm and you might want to call in and make a reservation. Sadly they don't serve other stuff like entrees or traditionally cooked meals or meat products, they're purely specialized on serving fish...you might want to take that into account. The meal came with a complementary serving of warmed bread (a first in Corfu), olives and marinated sardines. They also offered complimentary desert. Hats off for these...
