Aphea Cocktail Pool-Bar Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

We were staying in Kolymbari, and found it a perfect venue to stop on our evening walk. We had the rooftop restaurant completely to ourselves. Very pleasant atmosphere. The host was very welcoming. We had the meatballs which weren't particularly good, but sufficed after being ravenous cycling in the sun all day. My partner ordered the chicken gyros, instead of the pork gyros alternative. The dish ended up being mostly pork (or some other unidentified meat), with only small amounts of chicken interspersed. The main issue though was the most basic foundation of any meal, the flavour. The amount of salt was overwhelming, as if in an attempt to hide how bad the meat was. The whole dish was overseasoned, stale, dry and left a very bad taste in our mouths on our walk back home. The toilet seen some intense action that night. The host seemed to be bigging up the food when he brought it out as he said "and that's why you try everywhere once", referencing us as we told him we were trying every local restaurant at least once. Which seems odd given we were basically given the wrong meat, and overall was very, very unpleasant. Didn't ask how the food was, even though most of the "chicken" gyros was untouched. We stayed at Aphea Village and absolutely loved the pool bar! It’s run by the most friendly and hardworking couple who make you feel truly welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed, the pool area is clean with a stunning view, and the drinks and snacks are great – all at very reasonable prices.
