Our first trip to Crete and I had a fantastic experience except for my visit to this restaurant. Went in for just a quick snack with my husband and daughter. My daughter has both a gluten and dairy allergy and couldn't find anything suitable on menu other than a smoothie which she ordered. Myself and husband ordered a snack and drink each. My daughter spotted an ice-cream parlour across the street where they sold vegan ice-cream so she ordered a scoop to have with her smoothie. The food was medicore, which I can accept, but I was in complete shock when the rude waitress started tearing stripes off us for daring to allow my daughter to eat her ice-cream at the table. I explained that she had bad allergies and could only have vegan ice-cream. But she started getting louder and more aggressive and rude the more I tried to explain. Everyone was looking over at our table. I was literally gobsmacked. We'd ordered 2 snacks and 3 drinks from her. Horrible woman, so rude, unwelcoming and has a lot to learn about good customer service. Obviously steered clear of this restaurant for the rest of our time. My son had in his hand the remains of a drink purchased elsewhere and after the waitress brought the order, she informed him that he could not stay at the table with this cup of drink. What's more, she was very unpleasant. After an unpleasant exchange of words, I asked for plastic cups for the beer I had just ordered. She brought it, but it was much too small. I asked for a bigger one because these were too small, but she just replied over her shoulder "I don't care". Disgusting treatment!
I can understand their internal procedures, but the way they treat customers is like something out of the Middle Ages. There are so many cool and friendly places around. You better get around this...
Read moreA spontaneous stop brought us to "Galero". Right away, we were positively struck by the exceptionally courteous and unobtrusive staff - a refreshing change from some other places. For starters, we chose Pita, Tzaziki, and grilled cheese, followed by Spaghetti and grilled squid as our main course. While the food was solid and good, it wasn't necessarily the culinary highlight of our vacation. Nevertheless, anyone dining at "Galero" will surely not be disappointed. Another plus was the cozy seating area, allowing us to observe the bustling activity and passing people. Or as I like to put it: "Indulging in the human spectacle." All in all, a pleasant and...
