Taverna Bar Stratos — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

What a wonderful place to dine! We dropped in here for a meal whilst staying in the area. We were welcomed warmly, chose our table and soon ordered our drinks and food. Within a few minutes our drinks arrived, followed by our starter. We sat back enjoying our beers and starter, and were amazed at the hard working staff who were on the go all the time. Our mains of Chicken Skewer and Mixed Grill were soon before us and wow!! Those portions are huge. Everything was cooked perfectly and was so tasty. We both struggled to finish, but tried our best. A few minutes after our meal, a complimentary pudding arrived, again very tasty, and with our bill, complimentary raki, and not a tiny glass full either. The biggest surprise was the cost. We both could not believe how inexpensive the meal was, only €28. Thank you and hats off to all at Taverna...

I had the mousaka. It was not that good. It's never a good feeling to eat in a restaurant and realize that you'll make the same food better 🙄 Also it came with fries. Whaaat is this.

My spouse had meatballs and they were good. I regret my food choice.

Tables are next to the road so be prepared for noice and cars...

Would of eaten here every evening but travels around Crete dictated otherwise. Stayed at Apollon Hotel Apartments (excellent) round the corner from this lovely restaurant and hospitality was excellent. Fresh food cooked very well and wide range of choices on menu. Well...
