Taverna Garden — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

I still remember my holiday week on Crete in 2001. On like the second day, I went to Taverna Garden and placed an order. Vasilis tried to correct me and pointed out that his mother had just cooked her famous Stifado. When the meal came, I also got a side order of that Stifado, and it was fantastic!

I came back the next day and ordered the Stifado again.

From then on, I got all my food at Taverna Garden.

One time, I wanted coffee, and Vasos went like 'Nescaffe'? Obviously not. I answered 'Caffee Helinico parakalo'. So he took me down to the first floor and his sister brewed me the best coffee in my life, on an open fire,

Had a fantastic experience here. We received a warm greet on arrival. Once seated, we were quickly seen too and had our order taken. The server was really helpful in answering any questions I had. House red wine was lovely, and the bread and dips were amazing. Vast menu, something for everyone. The mixed grill was great and my partner's vegan moussaka looked amazing. Wow - loved this place! I was looking for somewhere with vegetarian and vegan options but still with locally sourced ingredients and flavours. Taverna Garden ticked those boxes for sure. Beautiful venue, very green. The owner and server were both super friendly and helpful. Vegan moussaka was amazing, was really impressed with the amount of food available for me.
