Aspri Avli Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Update August 2024: Third year coming back. This will probably be our last time sadly, as the service was rude and really made the experience bad for us. Food is fresh and lovely but the boiled vegetables that is served for all their seafood dishes are bland and tasteless. I wanted to change them for potatoes (fish dishes doesn't come with carbs or sauce) but the waiter left before I could tell him and then it took me 30 min to get anyone's attention after that and I was like, whatever. I know the dishes are massive so I don't really need extra potatoes as well but I'm a gal who loves a carb with her fish. Luckily they put some bearnaise for me on the plate when I told them last minute before the dish came out. I'd prefer a sauce more suitable for fish but since they didn't have that, any sauce will do. It's great food but the staff is just not nice. No one acknowledged us when we left the restaurant, usually they wave and say byebye. It's small things like that that makes it nice.

Update August 2023: Visited again and still top notch food, service was a bit slow but the food is outstanding for a pescerarian like me. Don't miss!

Wow what an experience, very romantic setting (probably most romantic we've been all of our trips to Rhodes) and the food was stunning and so fresh. Had to wait for a while to order- when a server did eventually ask me if I want to order I ordered a drink and food but he told me I will have to order food with his colleague- fair play. He then asked if I want some water - I said ‘’yes a little bit please’’ he brought a big bottle of water to my table- cheeky I immediately kindly returned the bottle and told him I had asked for tap water not bottled water- his service was pretty poor. But the other servers were great. Took another 10mins for someone else to come over to take my food order. I ordered the chicken garlic penne and I was quite disappointed- way too much cream for my liking and it tasted quite blunt as well. I did get a free dessert which made up for it a little bit but still would not recommend that particular dish. The staff were also running around like headless chickens, really chaotic and that’s coming from a hospitality manager’s perspective- whoever the manager was you should be nicer to your staff. Ich habe diesen Sommer mit Freunden das Aspri Avli zum ersten mal besucht. Ialissos gehört leider gar nicht zu meinen Favoriten auf Rhodos und abgesehen vom früheren Cavo Tango habe ich es auch immer erfolgreich gemieden. Doch nun gibt es wahrlich einen neuen Grund hierher zu kommen. Zwar mittendrin und umgeben von touristischen Einrichtungen betritt man hier einen "weißen Innenhof", der von hängenden Weinreben charmant umarmt wird. Der Hof ist gerade richtig elegant und sehr gemütlich und einladend eingerichtet. Die Speiseauswahl ist sehr gut und man kann als Gruppe entscheiden, ob man Meze teilen will oder separate Hauptspeisen genießen möchte. Wir haben natürlich geteilt. Jeder vorbeiziehende Teller inspiriert mit tollen Gerüchen und ich bekomme selbst jetzt beim Schreiben noch einen wässrigen Mund. Tatsächlich gehört das Schrimps-Saganaki hier zu den besten, die ich je in meinem Leben gegessen habe. Drei Dinge, die mir nicht gefallen haben und ich deshalb nur 4 von 5 Sternen vergebe. Der Gräsersalat "Chorta" war leider trocken und nicht von guter Qualität. Dieser sehr gesunde Salat muss in Griechenland immer "afrato" und frisch sein. Alles andere aber war herrlich. Die hängenden Weinreben vertrocknen leider alle, statt dass sie als Dessert auf dem Tisch landen. Dabei kann der Gastgeber hier im Herbst wunderbar die Gäste auf Trauben statt auf Eis einladen. "Gerade noch über euren Köpfen, jetzt frisch auf eurem Teller". Die Weintrauben schmecken besser, als das sie vertrocknet aussehen. Und die Kellnerin meinte auch noch, das sei nur Dekoration. Nein liebes Aspri Ali, das sind Lebensmittel und keine Deko und sie schmecken herrlich. Frisch abschneiden, waschen, auf die Teller. Perfekt! Apropos Kellner-Team: Das Team ist auffällig jung. Für meinen Geschmack in so einem Restaurant und solche Speisen leider zu jung. Man kann nur herzlich verkaufen, was man von Herzen kennt und mag. Diese "Herzlichkeit zum Produkt" fehlt uns hier. Ja, sie bemühen sich, haben aber größtenteils leider keine Erfahrung weder mit den Speisen noch mit den Weinen. Müssen sie auch nicht in dem Alter, sollten sie hier aber. Bringt eure jungen Leute durch Schulungen und Tastings bitte zu mehr Selbstvertrauen oder versucht erfahrenere Servicemitarbeiter zu finden.
