We visited Maria’s Taverna during our stay in Lindos, and it was one of the culinary highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the warm and friendly service set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic meal.

We ordered a selection of dishes including the chicken gyros, sautéed mushrooms, pitta bread with hummus, and a few other traditional Greek items — each one was bursting with flavour. You can genuinely taste the love and care that goes into the food here. Everything felt fresh, homemade, and cooked with real pride.

The chicken gyros were tender and perfectly seasoned, the hummus was creamy and full of depth, and the mushrooms were packed with umami richness. The pitta was soft and warm, perfect for dipping. Every bite was a reminder of why Greek food is so beloved.

What stood out even more than the food was the value for money and the authenticity of the experience. Despite the quality, the prices were very reasonable, especially given the location in such a popular and beautiful part of Rhodes.

Located in the heart of Lindos, Maria’s Taverna is easy to find and well worth a visit whether you’re exploring the area or staying nearby. This is the kind of place where the food speaks for itself — and it says “come back soon.”

I'm always reluctant to leave reviews that are less than 4 stars when the people were nice, but we were quite disappointed with our meal in Maria's unfortunately.

The starters were delicious, and we thought we were in for a great night. Then the mains came, moussaka and chicken souvlaki. The moussaka was overdone, and quite dry as a result. This also explains why it came far hotter than you would typically expect. The chicken was seasoned well, but it was poor quality meat - it had a rubbery texture that was quite unpleasant to eat.

To round off a frustrating evening, we were waiting at least 45 minutes to be given dessert menus after finishing our mains. We had to ask 3 times before they came. And once we ordered dessert, this took another substantial amount of time to arrive. The staff were pleasant, and the restaurant was moderately busy, but there's no excuse for a delay of this length. We actually began to worry that we had somehow caused offence...

We had an amazing dinner at Maria’s Taverna in Lindos! The atmosphere is warm and traditional, with a cozy Greek charm that makes you feel at home right away.

The food was absolutely delicious – everything tasted fresh and authentic. The Greek salad was full of flavor with crisp vegetables and creamy feta, the fries were perfectly seasoned, and the baked feta with olive oil and herbs was wonderful. We also tried the fried anchovies, which was crispy and light, and the grilled meat platter with pita, tzatziki, and lemon – all cooked to perfection and full of taste.

The ouzo was beautifully presented on ice and paired perfectly with the meal.

Service was excellent – friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
