El Greco is obviously one of the most popular restaurants in this area and is I suspect a product of its own fame. We arrived late and dinner was in full swing with the majority of tables all already on or close to having their mains. The place had a great atmosphere and the waiter created a table for us right out the back (but no complaints as we were looking forward to the food and experience). Starters came out and we ordered mains etc Saw the show during this time, all good and although packed the kids enjoyed it :) Food: Well we have been travelling in Greece for two weeks now and this was the worst restaurant food that we have had. Firstly it took over an hour for our mains to come out despite the restaurant now being only 25% full and when they did the lamb was overcooked, as was the pork tenderloin (dry as) and the chicken schnitzel was overcooked pork! Asked the waiter about the schnitzel and that was taken away and returned 15 mins later as a greasy (deep fryer fried) chicken, again overcooked and awful. Highly suggest that if you have to deep fry then donât use the same fryers for non seafood options because they absorb the taste! Itâs a shame, because with decent food this place would be great. I paid the bill in full and when asked what I thought I gave our opinion. Was offered desert and told that schnitzelâs are deep fried in Greece! (No they are not, and especially not when paying top dollar and not in a âpubâ)
If you are a tourist visiting for the first time and do not know how awesome Greek food is then this may be great for you. Do...
Read moreService was very slow. Initially the order was not sent to kitchen, although main server apologised profusely for this, which meant our wait for food was around 45 minutes. When the food did arrive, portions were on the smaller side and one dish was wrong. Took 5 mins to get attention of someone to swap for right dish.
Gyros - a bit tasteless and bland, tzaiki felt like it came from a bottle not fresh made. Moussaka - rate a 3/5, not great and certainly better around but was the best meal of the evening. Gemista was ok.
After we finished, it took over 15 minutes for the bill to arrive after asking. We were not offered any more drinks after initially sitting down despite being obvious we had no drinks before the main had even arrived.
Once the bill arrived, the owner (we believe) came over and made a very clear point that service tip was not included in the bill, ignoring that we had had terrible service. We received no discount for the delays or the wrong dishes, nor apology from the owner. Reluctantly we left a tip due to not having change.
There is better greek food down...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant twice during our stay, and it was by far the best dining experience in Ixiaâhighly recommended. The menu is excellent, but what truly sets this place apart is the people.
Every member of the team is warm, welcoming, and wonderful with children. They go above and beyond to make you feel included, sharing not just food but moments of real Greek culture and everyday life.
On our first visit, our daughter was kindly invited to take part in a special family celebration for a childâs first birthday. On our second visit, although we had just missed the plate smashing, Tommas generously brought the plates back out so she could still join in the fun. It was such a thoughtful gestureâone of manyâthat made our holiday unforgettable.
A heartfelt thank you to Spiridoulaâa beautiful woman with an even more beautiful heartâand to Tommas, whose warmth and kindness made us feel truly at home. Weâre so glad we found this place and only wish we didnât have to leave Greece. Weâd be here every day if we could.
Thank you so muchâwe canât...
