Vrachos — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

We have tried different restaurants in Ialyssos. Our favorite is this restaurant.

Stiffado, and souvlaki are our favorites. The children like the hamburger with cheese and bacon so they order this every time we eat here.

They serve big portions so it is worth the price and worth the wait. The staff are also very accommodating and they are child friendly, and we feel welcome.

Their Ice cream is very good :-). Their smoothies and milkshakes are also very good. The kids’ favorite is vanilla milkshake.

The location is perfect. It is by the beach. Nice view. You can have a drink at the terrace, or have snacks while watching your kids swimming.

There are also sunbeds in front of the restaurant. I like it that the restaurant have toilet for women, and for men. There is also a big mirror at the toilet entrance and paper towels are available beside the toilet basin.

We popped in here for lunch on our way to the airport. The location is perfect - literally opening onto the beach on one side, the main road through Ialyssos on the other and with a free car park a few yards away. The restaurant was almost empty when we were there so we could sit wherever we wanted. There is a large indoor seating area but we opted to sit on the covered terrace by the beach. Service was fairly quick although that's because it was practically empty! We didn't order anything fancy - just garlic bread, a margherita pizza, a Hawaiian pizza and fries (kid friendly food!) There was plenty of it, it tasted good, and it wasn't at all expensive compared to some places we've eaten in Rhodes. For a quick lunchtime bite to eat it's great. Komme mit Freunden seit 20 Jahren zum Surfen nach Lalyssos und besuche regelmäßig die hier ansässigen 5 bis 7 besten Restaurants abwechselnd, um je nach momentanen Genuss die besten Menues zu genießen. Zu einem unserer Faforiten gehörte auch das Vrachos, in dem wir u.a. in jedem Urlaub mindesten einmal Fischsuppe mit Weißwein aus Rhodos bestellten. Nachdem bereits im Vorjahr qualitative Abstriche feststellbar waren, haben wir dieses Jahr einen nicht hinnehmbar qualitativen Absturz erlebt. Der ausdrückliche Hinweis, einen Weißwein aus Rhodos zu wünschen, der uns in den Jahren zuvor immer ein treffender Begleiter zur Fischsuppe war, erhielten wir einen geschmacklich beleidigenden Weißwein aus Attika, der an die Qualität und Geschmack des rhodesischen bei weitem nicht reichte. Die Krönung des Negativen war die Fischsuppe. Ich hatte den Eindruck, daß diese nur noch für 2 Portionen ausreichte und daher einfach Wasser hinzugeschüttet wurde, um die bestellten 4 Portionen zu servieren. Dem entsprechend war der Geschmack. Die früher so typische gewürzreiche Sud mit den Muscheln und Fischteilen schmeckten wässerig und würden einem Vergleich mit der billigsten Dosensuppe im Geschmack unterliegen. Der Preisanstieg von früher 9,50 auf 12,50 Euro im Vorjahr auf jetzt 14,50 Euro ist hinsichtlich der heute gebotenen Qualität ein Hohn. Es ist einfach eine Schande wie ein Lokal mit dieser Lage innerhalb kürzester Zeit -zumindest qualitätsmässig- heruntergewirtschaftet worden ist.
