Aerina Luxury Apartments — Hotel in Municipality of Sifnos

This is probably one of the most difficult reviews I have had to write and the reason is that I am really struggling to make my mind up about this place.||||This is why:||||This complex of apartments is new, well-kept and very clean. The common areas are beautiful, which predisposes you to a very nice stay when you arrive. The apartments are very large, very well-equipped (perhaps the bathrooms on the smallish side and showers are completely open but hey, this IS summer), the welcome is friendly. It is next door to the family's well-run taverna, which is very convenient (although noise could be an issue on some nights). Its location is also very good, a 1' walk from the beach. We also found the pricing to be slightly on the upper end (which is true of most of Sifnos), but still reasonable given that there were 3 of us. Based on this, our rating should have been higher.||||However, there were two things that really spoilt the experience for us:||||Firstly, the owner demanded that we pre-pay the whole weekend, even though the law only requires a 50% down payment. While I know that in today's culture, where most reservations are made through various booking sites, this is not so unusual, I found extremely annoying that it should happen on a small Greek island. Pardon me for being conservative and harking back to the good old days of Greek hospitality, but demanding the whole amount beforehand showed a great lack of trust.||||More seriously for us was the fact that on both days the cleaning lady would begin trying to enter the apartment to clean at 10 am, and by 11 am (by which time we had asked her to give us more time 2 times) she would not even bother to knock on the door before entering to clean. This is simply UNACCEPTABLE. While I do recognize that in a small hotel the cleaning staff cannot be there round the clock, people on holiday cannot and should not be expected to wake up and get out of the bed and room simply because the cleaning lady is simply impatient to get on with it.||||For these reasons, I cannot in good conscience give a "Very good" rating to this establishment. If these minuses are fixed, though, or for people who do not really mind, this is a pleasant...

You wil not regret with your choice!||Location:||Platis Yalos is one the bigest beach of Sifnos island (and Cyclades in general) with crystal waters of the Aegean.||Jimmys Nikias Apartments & Rooms complex is located exactly 30' seconds from that great beach!!!!||Beside the complex and only one minute walk you can find a mini market (international press is available) for your needs (fruit,drinks,fresh bread) ,a great all day cafe-restaurant "Kalimera" and the famous best italian "Mamma Mia" ! At night you can enjoy your coctail at "Palmira" bar placed next to the sea of course and just 2 minutes walk. ||Although the rooms are in the most popular place of the area as described you will be suprised: they are not noisy at all!||There is only a main road across the Platis Yalos area so the parking is a problem (especially in August) but the complex owns an open space free parking for all guests!||Facilities:||Rooms are very clean (every day) with A/C,refrigerator,coffe,sugar,marmelade,butter and with a small balcony.You can prepare cold/hot coffe or tea.||All apartments have balcony with great sea view!!!||Staff:||Helpful,polite,generous!EXELLECT!EXELLENT!EXELLENT!||Price:||Smart choice for sure!Try to find prices for other rooms nearby and you will see what i mean: old...mezzanine floors...boring...and 20-30 euros more...be carefull!!||Conclusion:||I would certainly recommend Jimmys Nikias for your stay! We have chosen this pension by chance, as it is a new one without reviews.And we did right.First of all, location:at the very end of the long beach of Platys Gialos, so very quiet place but also very near to restos etc.Big rooms (not huge), very nice view to the sea (ask for upper rooms with sea view), very nice garden furniture, neutral colours to the inside furniture, comfortable bed.The room we had , had a small kitchen, but it is only for something light, you cant really cook a lot.But the highlight of the place? Cleaniness! The room was cleaned everyday, new towels, towels for the beach, new basket for breakfast, everything in the room in the right place to make you feel like you are in a star hotel and not in a rented app. (Enough with all these people who rent rooms in the islands and they clean them back when you go away!) Hope this continues during the years and when we come back tto feel 4he same good...
