Very popular beach side spot for the pre & post wedding crowds, and well heeled island hoppers with an unlimited travel budget. Thankfully, the restaurants on this strip kindly leave out menus for passers by to check out in advance - sparing any embarrassment should you take a table blind. Expect to pay €100 for 2 sharing three dishes and a reasonably priced bottle of wine & tip. Daily fish specials will trigger that beyond €100. The welcome is warm and attentive, service is excellent and the food both inventive and utterly delicious. We both could have easily ordered our food twice (not on account of portion sizes, just for being so bloody good). The wine list is tempting and of Greek provenance - which is really heartening to see. We chose a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for €34.00, which was delicious and a perfect match for our dishes. Some might consider the place pricey, but the standard of cooking and simple creativity make this an easy choice if you want to break away from the traditional charcoal grill tavernas - and splash out on something special. A star has been culled for the music (sorry). Chill out cover versions played on Spanish guitar and keyboard with Prozac vocals should be consigned to the bin forever. Otherwise, 5 stars. Ate September 6th 2022. Addendum: Returned for another exceptional supper September 12th and the choice of music was waaaay better. Fifth star has...
Read moreMy family -2 adults, 2 adult children - booked here for lunch. On arrival the vibe was decent, but shortly after being sat by the maitre’d at a table facing the sea the very same sunglass wearing - thus not looking us in the eye- and snooty maitre’d told us we’d have to move to another table as someone else had booked that spot. Minimal apologies, no attempt to mitigate our disappointment. So we were ushered to the back of the restaurant. A bad start and a lousy way to make your customers feel welcome. After waiting a few minutes at a bare table, it was then laid out for our lunch. Once that was done a similarly snooty waitress eventually appeared to take our orders. At the point she was about to do so she suddenly said ‘wait a minute’ and went to take orders at a different table. At this point we decided to leave since it seemed quite obvious to us that our business was of no significance. So I have no comment on food, drink etc. clearly this review reflects a poor experience but on reflection it is a rather pretentious place and on our experience provides...
Read moreWe had a long travel day to Sifnos due to sea winds etc… we got there much later in the day and were very hungry! Yalos was recommended on Trip Advisor and my oh my did we have a dreamy night!
The moment we walked in I was enamored by the design of the restaurant. Open, light, warm, natural…From the view of the full moon upon the lapping sea water, to the pairings and selections that “ D “ made for our preferences … we had the most scrumptious feast for our tastebuds! I have allergies and she also accommodated them. The wines were paired perfectly with the dishes. And the food was the absolute most balanced amount so that you could enjoy an app, dinner, drinks, and then absolutely have room for your own dessert!
We went back again before leaving the area as it quickly became our favorite spot. The beach lounge chairs available for the afternoon with lunch are also magical. D is A dreamer with a mission and is excellent at her craft. You are lucky if she guides your meal choices ;) we will quite honestly come back to Sifnos to visit her and...
