ΜΕΛΙΚΡΑΤΟΝ PATISSERIE CROISSANTERIE — Restaurant in Municipality of Syros and Ermoupoli

Very good coffee, ok sweets. While randomly walking around Ermoúpoli looking for Gelato, I stumbled upon this place and decided to go in for coffee and sweets instead. They offer a quite wide variety of sweets and baked goods, and after deliberating for a short while, I chose the lemon pie and the cream-filled thingy. The lady expressed her surprise because I chose two 😂 ("are you going to eat TWO??"). Also ordered an americano to drink. Coffee was very tasty indeed, but the sweets were only ok. Lemon pie wasn't terribly lemony (an indecipherable pattern I've seen all around the world) and had weird merengue (too sticky). Cream filled thingy crumbled while I tried to eat it, but was nice. Price was 12,80 for the sweets and two coffees, which is fair.

I'd definitely go back to try some more of...

Unfortunately, it was my worst experience on the island. I ordered a croissant with chocolate and a freddo cappuccino. The croissant was far from fresh, and the chocolate seemed more for show than flavor. At €3 for this, it felt overpriced.

The coffee, on the other hand, was the worst I’ve had on the island. At €3.8, it was quite expensive for the quality, especially in Greece.

The staff didn’t seem very happy, perhaps having a bad day, but the tension in the atmosphere was palpable. I didn’t even dare to ask about the lack of chocolate or the pricing, as it just didn’t seem worth it.

My husband and I grabbed a pastry every afternoon we were in Syros and then more (extras) before we hopped our ferry to Athens. The best Pain Au Chocolat I’ve ever had. My husband found the cinnamon rolls to be the GREATEST ever - they were moist throughout the roll (compared to others elsewhere that are dry in the center). The staff were...
