I recently dined at Aegean Restaurant in Imerovigli, and my experience left much to be desired. The service was truly disappointing, marked by extreme rudeness from our server. The initial sign that this meal might not go well was the pita bread, which arrived at our table cold.
To make matters worse, the restaurant was closing for the season, and instead of prioritizing the remaining customers, they seemed more focused on packing up the establishment. This lack of attention to diners added to the overall negative impression.
The pricing was also unreasonable; while the tzatziki sauce was reasonably priced, charging $4.50 for a serving of pita bread seemed excessive, especially considering that you would need at least two orders to match the amount of tzatziki sauce.
I ordered the lamb shank, only to be informed that they had run out of mashed potatoes, offering fries as the only side. Given this change and the fact that the presentation was going to be subpar, I believe the meal should have been discounted. However, the server seemed uninterested in addressing this issue.
To top it off, when my lamb shank finally arrived, it was cold. I had to send the plate back to the kitchen, but the restaurant’s response was lackluster, with no attempt to remedy the situation other than reheating the dish in front of me.
Furthermore, my dining experience at Aegean Restaurant was further hindered by the fact that approximately three-fourths of the menu items were whited out or unavailable. This severely limited the already limited options, making it even more challenging to find a satisfactory dish. It added to the frustration and disappointment of the entire visit.
In an additional disappointment, the kitchen staff was seen smoking in the very front of the restaurant, where customers were seated. This not only created an unpleasant environment but also raised concerns about hygiene and professionalism within the establishment. It was a significant drawback to an already disappointing dining experience.
In summary, my experience at Aegean Restaurant was highly disappointing. I cannot recommend anyone to dine there, as the customer service was practically absent, the menu options were severely limited, and the overall dining experience was far from satisfactory.
Lastly, to all these grievances, it’s worth mentioning that I am currently on my honeymoon, and the level of service we received at Aegean Restaurant was wholly unacceptable. Such a special occasion called for a memorable dining experience, but unfortunately, it left us deeply...
Read moreFirst, the view. If there’s one reason to go, it’s the view. The space is beautiful - the interior portion of the restaurant is in perfect harmony with the terrasse - meaning that no matter where you sit, you will have a fabulous view of the ocean and you will feel a lovely breeze.
The decor is fresh and super chill. The vibe is very relaxed and it’s easy to sit there for a while and just enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.
The food is amazing - so good that I’m writing this review during my 2nd visit. My first visit was last night! So last night I ordered the moussaka, which was freshly made on the spot and was both filling and delicious. It took about 25 minutes to prepare but my waitress had warned me when I ordered. I also had the cheesecake, and that was just terrific. None of that whole New York cheesecake nonsense. Fresh, soft cheese and forest berries. Yum.
Today I came for lunch, post Skaros Rock excursion and after that experience, I certainly deserved some fabulous food. I had the shrimp triangles (awesome) and the green salad with grilled cheese and walnuts and pomegranate - let’s just say it was a healthy dish but it was so good, it felt like I was cheating on my non-diet. I had their home-made lemonade with ginger (a must!) and for dessert, the lava cake. Hey - don’t judge. I’m hiking to Oia tomorrow!
Service: Good.
Price point: Pretty damn affordable considering the location and the quality of the food!
I showed up with no reservation but I was solo. I would recommend...

Aegean Santorini Restaurant which came recommended by our concierge at Astra Suites was without reservation, the worst food establishment I have ever set foot in. From the horrendous walk on the uneven, unsafe, unlit path, to the confused look we got when we entered the restaurant (made it look as though they could not find our reservation) to the waiter who could not care any less about our experience and smelled like he bathed in his own sweat for 3-4 days straight to the HORRENDOUS food (non peeled shrimp was bland and tasteless; cheese pie was a combo of sour, sweet and sloppy), to the entrees (we ordered the mushroom risotto and the slow cooked braised meat - both of which were cooked in the same disgusting and bitter brown broth) we did not even want to try desert. We got up and left feeling traumatized from the experience. On POSITIVE was the lady owner who noticed we did not like the food and offered to take it off the bill. She was pleasant and professional.
You wait for dinner each night while away; it is a part of the experience. We’ve had plenty of ‘eh’ type meals over time but this one, especially when recommended by a $1500/night hotel concierge, was down right...
