This is the story of the first time I gave a restaurant 1 star on Google reviews.
This was our last night in Paros so we wanted to make sure that we would go to a decent restaurant.
Searching on Google and seeing this classification (4.7) we knew for sure that this would be an excellent place - we were completely wrong, it turned out to be the worst restaurant we went on the Cyclades after a 10 day trip around the islands.
I ordered some octopus and my wife ordered some kind of chicken with potatoes.
They insisted (a little bit too much) that we would also should order a starter, so we did (we chose some garlic spread and bread). The amount of bread they brought was absolutely ridiculous and insuficient for the spread (4 really small slices) so, we obviously had to ordered it and paid it twice.
The garlic spread on the other hand was absolutely delicious and the only good thing about this place.
When the mains arrived the portions were decent and enough for us (we don't eat that much), although really small compared to all the other restaurants we went, which can actually be good since Greek portions tend to be really really big.
My wife's potatoes had absolutely no salt and the chicken was a on the dry side, but then... Then I tried my octopus.
Let's get one thing straight first, I love salty food and I always find myself asking for salt on restaurants all over the world, but in this case I couldn't eat that octopus at all. It was simply uneatable with an absurd amount of salt, I couldn't eat more than 30% of it.
I looked around trying to find a waiter or someone for 20 minutes. No one came, no one asked if the food was ok or if we wanted anything else. I got frustrated, got up and went to to pay for the meal.
This person (that I assume it was the owner or manager) finally asked me if everything was alright and I answered "no", following with the explanation of everything stated above.
The response she gave was: "I don't understand, I ate the same octopus and it was good". I explained that I couldn't finish the meal. The final reaction was handing me to the machine so I could pay the full price for the meal.
No apologies were made. No discounts were done. They didn't even offered us something small to apologize, a coffee, a desert, some drinks, anything would have been a good gesture.
We went to restaurants all around Greece, from small dirty taverns to high end places, this was absolutely overpriced, with awful service and food. This was the only bad experience that we had in a Greek restaurant on our long trip.
I thought of giving it two stars for the nice appetizer, but in the end not even the garlic spread can save it.
Avoid this place, there are several nicer alternatives around the corner with better food, service, kindness and no arrogance.
Speaking of arrogance, check some of the restaurant answers on Google to the bad reviews, it's absolutely priceless and pretty much sums up the attitude of...
Read moreYou MUST eat here! Without question the best meal my family has had in Greece over the last 2 weeks. We have already made reservations to go back before we leave. It is family run (and they are lovely). The courtyard is beautiful and quiet. The food is out of this world. Everything is fresh and cooked to perfection. We started with the bread (made in-house), The greek salad (with a creamy feta that was incredible), local olives, and the local cheese plate (all local to Paros and one made in house). For our entrees we had the lamb shank (which was out of this world and cooked to perfection), the chicken with a fig honey sauce (delicious!), and their special of the day Kima (basicslly a Greek style bologense using slightly different flavor profiles and their in-house made pasta - excellent). We finished the meal with a filo incased vanilla ice cream bar with a lemon curd icing. Im telling you our whole meal to show you we ordered a lot across the board. From start to finish, everything was incredible. They paired our meal with a delicious dry white wine from Santorini. They family is lovely and clearly cook from the heart. We will never forget this place. You should go. You won't eat a...
Read moreMy friend and I ate here our first night in Paros and are returning this evening. As soon as we walked up, we were welcomed with smiles and positive, welcoming energy from one of the owners. She and her son were the staff we interacted with most and both were fun, hilarious, kind and helpful. We got the tzatziki to start and it was incredibly fresh and we enjoyed it with their homemade bread. My friend ordered the pasta as her main and really enjoyed it. Based on the owner’s recommendation between two options, I ordered the braised beef and it was possibly the best meal I’ve ever had in my life—which is a lot to say as a self-proclaimed foodie. The beef was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The truffle mashed potatoes were perfectly smooth and seasoned, and the sauce was flavourful and tied the entire dish together. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. After trying several places in Paros, this was hands down the most authentic, welcoming, friendly, and delicious restaurant. The restaurant is also beautiful and lit up with twinkly lights in the evening, creating great ambiance. Definitely a must try if you are...
