We’re so glad we chose Mediterrano for dinner on our last night in Kefalonia. This new restaurant is just starting its first full season and after the meal we had on Saturday, I think it will become one of the most popular places in Sami (which is already a very foodie place). It feels smart but unpretentious. We were welcomed so warmly, given helpful advice on choices and beautiful service throughout, and the food was first class. We had courgette balls (like bhajis with a yoghurt dip) followed by a perfectly cooked sea bream with greens and the best calamari I’ve ever eaten - super tender with the lightest batter. Not enough room for dessert but as it was Holy Saturday, we were sweetly given two koulourakia (traditional Easter biscuits). We sat indoors due to storminess but still admired the amazing sea view through the glass, and there are also tables directly overlooking the water. We thought the prices were so reasonable for the superb quality of food and service. Thank you for such a memorable evening! See you...
Read moreAfter taking the ferry to Kefalonia from Vasiliki on Lafkada we drove to the town of Sami after hearing good things. With no personal knowledge of Sami we spoke with many locals before stopping at Mediterrano restaurant in the early evening. The restaurant faces the bay, oceanfront. We spoke with Dimitri and were so impressed we stayed for dinner. Lucas seated us, Dimitri gave us a menu run down, so many choices. Katerina made sure our order was put through efficiency and correctly. Immediately we received grilled & oiled bread, then our Saganaki cheese, some of the best we've had while in Greece. Then we received our mains, once again they did not disappoint, the flavours and portions were exceptional. My Tomahawk porkchop was something else! As we sat looking out at the bay on the waters edge we were so glad we stopped and stayed. We've decided to stay a few days to use Sami as our home base for sight seeing on the beautiful island of Kefalonia, Mediterrano we will be back! thank you....

Our experience at this restaurant was far from satisfactory. Unfortunately, the service needs significant improvement. We were caught in the rain and, despite being one of the few tables outside, we were the only ones not offered a place inside the café. Even though we had a small child with us, no one made any effort to help us move inside.
We had to ask for the bill ourselves and walk in the rain with our child. The bill totaled 80 euros, but the experience left us deeply unhappy. To make matters worse, our food got soaked, while other guests had their meals replaced. We weren’t even offered a place to wait or have a coffee until the rain subsided.
On the plus side, the staff speaks English, and the food was decent. However, the overall experience was ruined by the poor service. We definitely won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this...
