Friendly and accommodating personnel. The atmosphere is as stereotypical as it can get in a narrow Greek small town cobblestone street. Thus it feeds right into the unimaginative mind of the typical tourist. Good or bad? Neither, just a fact. I’m sure plenty get the experience they wanted. The food was neither mind blowing nor disappointing. Plain standard. I had: • fried zucchini with tzatziki - which I for some reason expected to be more crisp, but the taste was ok. • calamares - ok portion, but lacking in savoury taste. • shrimp saganaki - nice big prawns, and it might be standard to cover everything with cheese, but when there’s so much cheese as this restaurant puts on, and a very very plain and boring kind, it makes you wonder whether the cook just made a mistake or if, sadly, they’re trying to mask a suboptimal quality of the rest of the ingredients.
All this might sound negative. Well, let me just say that I left the place without any particular memorable experience. Sometimes that’s what we want (e.g., McDonalds, Burger King etc.), just to get something to eat. Sometimes we want more and if so, you should...
Read moreWe were two people at this restaurant and the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I honestly cannot understand all the positive reviews they have — we were badly advised by the place where we were staying. We ordered a moussaka, but what we were served was nothing short of embarrassing: completely dry, with no creaminess whatsoever, and with a terrible taste, almost inedible. Not only did it fail to meet even the most basic expectations of a traditional dish, but it also gave the impression of being badly made and without any care. A restaurant that serves dishes in such conditions certainly does not deserve to be recommended: money and time completely wasted.
When the blonde lady came to take the plate, still full of food, we told her it was inedible — more suitable as building material — but she didn’t even bother to apologize or offer to change the dish. I’ve had moussaka many times across Greece, but this was by far the worst ever.
On top of that, we ordered two other dishes that made us sick for the whole night. A classic tourist trap, ripping people off with...

Tucked away on a quiet little street in the center of Skiathos Town, it welcomes you with a cozy and authentic atmosphere, far from the tourist traps and perfect for enjoying real Greek cuisine. Every dish is prepared with care and love, using fresh, local ingredients. We had the baked eggplant, grilled octopus, and a textbook-perfect Greek salad, everything was simple, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The flavors are rooted in tradition, but handled with a light and thoughtful touch. The service is warm and familiar, you feel at home right away, with friendly smiles and just the right amount of attention. The pace is relaxed, making the meal even more enjoyable, especially with a glass of their house wine. Mesogia isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a little slice of the real Greece.
