Piatsa Greek Restaurant — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

I had lunch with my family at this restaurant when we visited Zakynthos in June. Many things went wrong with this visit. When we asked for the bill, the amount didn’t make much sense. Therefore, we asked if we could go through it together with the person at the till. Our starters never arrived, however, they were charged to our bill. They removed the starters but after, they kept finding extras to be charged for: bread we didn’t ask nor eat, service charge (even though it was terrible). We asked if these « extra » items could be removed, which they refused at first as they mentioned that they will be charged if they had re print the receipt. At this point, we were getting quite annoyed and displeased. Even though we had asked if it was possible to pay by card, they kept insisting that we should pay with cash. We had reiterated that we asked to pay by card as we were not carrying any cash. Two ladies approached us to say that they had overheard the issue and that we should be aware as they had witnessed a similar situation with another costumer earlier on. They try to trick foreign costumers in to paying more and in cash. When confronted, they become very rude and dismissive.

Food is below average and customer service is not existent.

Avoid. There are better options in Zakynthos with good customer service and...

Our experience here was disappointing. The food was bland, served cold, and the fries were soggy and tasteless. For the prices they charge, especially compared to other charming restaurants in the city center, the quality was underwhelming.

The service was a major letdown. The waitstaff rarely checked on tables, and it was difficult to get their attention even when we needed something. To top it off, we were overcharged by €15, and I’m still unclear as to why. When it came time to pay, they asked for a tip, which felt unusual. I tipped 5%, which felt generous considering the overall experience, but the cashier commented, “only 5%?”, which I found quite off-putting.

Initially, we thought the man with the captain’s hat outside was trying to attract customers for a neighboring restaurant, but it turns out he was working for both, including this one. Immediately makes it feel like a tourist trap.

Update; na reactie van de eigenaar wil ik benadrukken dat we specifiek; toen we eenmaal zaten en dachten dat we naar het verkeerde restaurant waren geleid nadat we specifiek naar Piatsa hadden gevraagd; we dit nogmaals hebben nagevraagd. Mijn vriend vroeg de bediening en ik ben terug gelopen naar de propper. Zowel hij als de bediening vertelde dat het hetzelfde is en de keuken is gedeeld. Dus nu ik ineens in de reactie lees dat het toch apart is, voelt dit alsof we er toch in zijn geluisd. We hebben het meerdere malen gevraagd.

Een prachtige marketing reactie van de eigenaar maar ik hoop dat ze er ook echt iets gaan doen. Nog steeds blijft het eten en de sfeer goed, maar jullie zouden er baat bij hebben wat transparanter te zijn in de communicatie.

Let op! Eptaniso (nu genaamd Niso) en Piatsa zijn hetzelfde restaurant met een gedeelde keuken. Wij dachten dat we door de aardige capiteinpet propper naar het slechte restaurant waren gesjoemeld die op Google een 1.8 kreeg en wilden naar Piatsa met een 5-ster rating, maar dit bleek hetzelfde. Het eten was hartstikke lekker en de locatie en sfeer is heel goed. Het enige dat heel jammer was dat toen we de rekening kregen, er 13 euro bij op was geteld voor een knoflook broodje die je meestal gratis krijgt. Deze was aangeslagen voor 2 personen als 2 keer 3,50 euro en nog eens 6 euro voor tzaziki). Hij vroeg na het bestellen: “would you like some Bread with it? And a bit of tzaziki?” meestal is dit gratis, maar oké.

Jammer hier aan was dat toen wij hier naar vroegen, hij boos weg liep en niet meer naar de tafel kwam om af te rekenen. Wij wilden geen drama creëren en hebben het geld maar gewoon op de tafel gelegd. Jammer want de propper (mogelijk eigenaar) en de rest van de bediening (bijv de albanische jongens waren heel aardig)!
