I really wanted to like this place. The music was great, the people were nice, the vibe was really good.
However, the bathrooms were filthy. It looked like several people with explosive diarrhea had visited over the last few days and no one had cleaned it. The common sink area was dirty. I ordered a cosmopolitan and it came as a vodka and cranberry juice in a long glass not a martini. I asked what vodkas were available and was showing a range of them, and then when I picked Tito's I was charged double the original price without being told until I got the bill. My wife ordered a glass of white wine and it was so poor she couldn't drink it. They stocked only the cheapest of wines. We'd intended to have dinner here but we left without eating given the filth and the incompetence on even making simple drinks. Could be a great place if it was better managed. Too bad. I am taking the time to edit this after reading the comment from the bar because they lied in several respects. They did not take my wine that was undrinkable off the bill, it was not only the bathroom I was in but also the public sinks that were filthy, I asked what vodkas were available for my cosmopolitan and was shown a variety and when I picked one was not told of a higher price. I am more convinced that ever that this is not a place to visit given the untruths in the comments from the...
Read moreVery cute, spacious indoor and outdoor spaces with seemingly delicious pizza, curry, and cocktails… however, I’m now experiencing day 2 of food poisoning after having dinner here on April 13, around 6-8pm. From my table of 9 people, 7 got sick, including all of my family members. Of my 12 other friends seated at 2 separate tables, at least 6 got sick that I know of. That makes for ~62% of us who got sick, unfortunately.
The worst part is that all of us were traveling the next day, mostly on long car rides back to Guatemala City and flights back to the States; one person was hospitalized in Antigua.
We tried contacting the restaurant to let them know what happened but could not find a phone number or email address. It’s possible this was a fluke related to a power outage in the neighborhood the previous day, but I’d stick to the canned or bottled beverages and be cautious about food, water, and ice here until the problem is fully identified and resolved. Thanks...
Read moreAn oasis in bustling Panajachel. A beautiful garden and pool that offer great respite after a long day of exploring. Very friendly, welcoming staff that seems so happy we were there (but that just seems to be the rule of Guatemala!). Private parking (we were on motorcycles and need secure parking). Lovely, clean room and VERY comfy bed. No air conditioning but it cools off at night. Would have been nice to have had more ventilation in the room and way more hooks to hang things. Sitting out in the garden, drinking cold drinks, laying in a hammock or sitting at one of many tables around, and playing with the kitty... so nice. Easy walking distance to the shore and to boats to go across the Lake. I thought it was amazing value for the money. I'm betting it's loud and lively on the weekends but......
