I spent two nights at this small hotel located in an alley off busy Calle Amate, which is off Calle Principal. My room had a double bed, 2 small bedside tables, and a flat-screen TV with cable, including a few English-language channels. There was a dim light fixture in the ceiling, so I requested and was immediately given a small bedside lamp, which helped to brighten the room. ||||The bathroom was small, but clean. It had a "suicide shower" (electrical fixture with wires). The water was hot and the pressure was good. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and it worked well.||||The hotel has a nice rooftop terrace that serves coffee, tea, and beer throughout the day. It also has a small seating area in front of a large flat screen TV near the bar. The included breakfast is served on the terrace, so there are also tables and chairs there. There is a hammock, and even an exercise bike there as well. ||||The hotel was noisier than I expected since it sits in an alley. You can hear a lot of street noise, which doesn't abate until around 10 PM. Also, the hotel staff start their day around 6 AM, and you can clearly hear them talking and banging around early in the morning.||||Staff speak no English except for one of the managers, but I only saw him once during my stay. I booked a tour of the villages on the lake with him, and all went well. I speak some Spanish, and the staff was very accommodating during my stay.||||There is a grocery store around the corner from the hotel. I stopped there a couple times to pick up snacks. The hotel is about a 7-minute walk to the top of Calle Santander, and about 15 minutes to the lake. I didn't mind the walk, but you can easily hail a tuk-tuk near the hotel if you prefer to ride. ||||I was very apprehensive about staying at the Victoria because it's so cheap. I wasn't sure what to expect. Mind you, the room is very basic, just a place to lay your head, and not someplace you would want to linger. However, for slightly more than the cost of a hostel, you get a clean private room with private bathroom, flat screen TV, comfortable rooftop with a view, and free breakfast. Not bad for $15/night including tax.||||If you are on a tight budget, I think this is a very good value for the money, and I recommend...

Read moreFor the price this hotel is a no brainer! It is located about a 5min walk to the main Church and market and about a 12min walk to Calle Santander(the main drag).|Check-in was speedy and the room readied as I checked in around 10:30am. The room on the first floor was spacious, clean with attached bath and good water pressure and hot water. There was also a TV with English language programming including CNN and BBC. The wifi worked well in all areas and breakfast served on the terrace consisted of fruits, eggs, toast and coffee. Also located a few feet from the hotel on the main road is a Supermarket and a few local eating places. Service on the whole was efficient especially with the Manager on duty. Overall, an...
