Yeah...some other person on tripadvisor described it well...inconsistent...sometimes very good but sometimes very bad...i got a bad day.
And its less about the service, because i dont expect unpaid volunteer of the workaway service (website) to be able to handle the job of a waiter very well. Other people go to school for that.
This makes me just sad to see exploitation of young people. Because the prices are not cheap and for me this leaves the taste of a greedy owner/management.
And you taste that in the food aswell. Fresh pressed orange juice, which was fresh pressed some days ago so you can already feel the fermentation. An instant masala chai, where u wonder why they dont serve sugar until you taste it and your sugar tastebuds explode.
And the actual meals, two different pastas ordered. Which should have been made seperately because of the different ingrediants. But in the end made together and just the types of seafood were different and changed the way they tasted. My friend took some bites and found out that it was not what was ordered. Mine was more or less the right dish. But no love in there, had a hard time eating it since i dont like throwing food away. We packed the other food and took of.
I didnt argue with the owner which by the end of the dinner finished his 3rd glass of wine and seemed allready quite stressed with the whole situation of that evening, because there were a lot of people waiting for food and service...
And from reviewing tripadvisor i guess he or his business arent gonna change. Because there its still one of the top restaurants in town?! And the bad reviews there are quite similar to mine and reach far back...
To give the restraunt some suggestions, get one good paid waitor who can handle/direct the volunteers and keep an overview. And please be honest to yourself about the menu, if you would deliver whats actually written on your menu then this restaurant could be top notch in san marcos.
Its better to make less profit and deliver something delicious than serve customers an experience of being robbed and leaving the restaurant with the taste of a even worse kind of modern...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this place two nights ago. We both got sick. Almost were unable to leave the Airbnb the next morning. Two days later we're still not recovered.
I guess we learned that you can get food poisoning from pizza. My wife's didn't even have meat! Researching we found out pizza dough can go bad as it contains eggs, bit it could've also been bad cheese.
We were eating local, hand made food for days prior to this without issues.
The pizza also didn't have much flavor. When I ordered some spice/salsa and I noticed the annoyed face of the lady (native from the area) when she was asked by our server.
Our server was a kid, the owner's son, he was actually really nice and does a great job. We left him a generous tip (although some reviews say tip is already charged).
We were chatting with the owner for a while. He was nice to us unlike other reviews mentioned.
I believe we ended up spending around $50+ USD for two pizzas and a...
Read moreI absolutely loved Restaurant Fe in San Marcos and ate there three times during my short stay in the village in November 2016.
The menu was extensive and had two pages of delicious sounding curries (Thai and Indian versions), along with oven fired pizzas, salads, smoothies and more. Many of the dishes had a vegetarian option.
I tried the chickpea and lentil curries served with rice and their Greek salad. Everything was so flavourful and delicious. The portions were large and prices were very reasonable.
The restaurant was in an open-air setting with seating in a garden courtyard around lots of jungle vegetation. It was comfortable, peaceful, and relaxed and beautiful. They had fast and free Wi-Fi and the service was friendly and professional.
It was a pleasant place to enjoy lunch or dinner. The food was excellent and I would...
