I really love this place, especially Ixchel.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the device you order on must be wrong or something because I ordered the waffle delight and got the savory waffles. When I took it back, the lady looked at me super confused and when I said that's not what I ordered, she showed me my receipt which clearly said waffle delight on it. Then there was an awkward moment of me feeling bad asking them to have to possibly waste food and make a new order for me. When they did bring me out the correct ones, they were supposed to have coconut and cacao chips but it had neither. Instead it had pineapple. Maybe they were out of those things and the language barrier made it hard to communicate. Things happen so it's totally cool and I've eaten here probably 5 other times with zero issues. Upstairs café Ixchel has many gluten free options. Celiacs should be careful what they order as some dishes do contain oats and the ladies working there were not sure whether they were the gluten free kind. However, staying clear of any oat containing dishes, I (celiac) had no symptoms of cross contamination and the food was great. I tried the quinoa bowl, health bowl, untraditional breakfast plate and the tacos. All of them were really good and freshly prepared. Welcoming and friendly staff with a beautiful garden ambiance. Two staff members were unfamiliar with menu item "sophisticated waffle." We had to point to it on the menu as we described it, and how much it cost. The waffle is advertised as sourdough, but the server asked us if we wanted it with or without gluten. The waffle came out very dense and not at all airy like sourdough should be. Seems like we got the gluten free even though we ordered with gluten.
