I spent 1 month at The Unicorn Hotel in Ruby cabin. What stands out about The Unicorn was the community vibe. During my stay, there were weekly activities like sauna, cold plunge, potlucks - & for those with experience, martial arts & acro yoga. If there was anything I ever needed, Jonathan was the guy to ask. His knowledge of the lake, Guatemala, sights, activities etc etc is impressive. His staff were beyond friendly too. They would always see how I was doing & even teach me some of their Mayan languages, Tz'utujil & Kaqchikel. The place itself is clean & very close to nature with trees & green areas. The proximity to the lake & nature reserve was an enjoyable bonus. Jonathan is continuously building & bringing a dream to life. I am excited to see what the Unicorn continues to transform into in the coming months & years!

Staying at this hotel was a unique experience for me. Jonathan and Carla make this place so cozy, beautiful and full of care and warmth. I tried the traditional breakfast and great local coffee. The local cuisine was great! The hotel feels like a dream! We were all together at the table and shared our emotions and impressions of our travels. There is a lot to do here, Jiu Jitsu lessons, aqua yoga and much more. In addition, I was invited to a traditional sauna, as the indigenous people of Lake Atitlan used to do. I had a lot of impressions. Thank you very much Jonathan and Carla! It was unforgettable!

The best times, I can promise you’ll find great community and amazing hosts! Jonathan, the owner makes sure everyone who works at Unicorn do so with passion! The cabins are amazing, and safe. Also it’s less then a minute walk to the lake from this quiet little oasis! As lovely as it can get, hope to stay here again when I return to the lake! Big thank you 🫶

I recently stayed at Casa Limon, and while I appreciated the privacy it offered, my experience was marred by numerous issues that made it far from enjoyable.

First off, the noise level was surprisingly disruptive. What should have been a quiet retreat turned into a cacophony that made it difficult to relax.

The condition of the property was alarming. Termite dust and signs of infestation were everywhere, which not only raised concerns about hygiene but also made the entire place feel neglected. Honestly, the house is in such disrepair that it should be condemned and torn down. See attached photo for just one example.

The shower was another significant letdown. The owner attributed the lack of hot water and pressure to the town's infrastructure, but we discovered that even the cheapest hostel nearby had great water pressure and hot water. My friend didn’t shower during our entire stay because the water was tepid at best, and the pressure was practically nonexistent.

Additionally, the steep stairs leading up to the accommodations were hazardous without a handrail. This poses a serious risk, especially for anyone with mobility issues.

While the owner tried to project friendliness, it felt insincere. He prioritized a spiritual ceremony over checking us in, which felt disrespectful given the amount of money we had paid. Furthermore, he constantly pushed for a five-star review, explaining why he believed he deserved it, despite the glaring issues with the property.

Lastly, the photos online are a misleading representation of the house. They appear to be heavily edited, as the reality was far less appealing and much more rundown than depicted.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend this property. It needs significant renovations and better management. I suggest looking elsewhere for a more enjoyable and honest experience. Save your money and find a place that truly delivers on...

My stay at Unicorn Reborn was absolutely fantastic! Karla and Jonathan, the hosts, were incredibly friendly and always went out of their way to assist me. Their hospitality truly made me feel at home.

The room I stayed in was immaculately clean and filled with thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, fruits, and a charming welcoming note. It was evident that they put a lot of care and effort into making their guests feel welcomed and comfortable.

One of the highlights of my stay was using the temascal, a traditional Mayan steam bath. Jonathan kindly shared its significance and how to use it, which made the experience even more memorable.

Additionally, having access to the shared spaces like the kitchen, bathroom, and dining room was convenient. Everything was kept tidy and organized, and I appreciated the opportunity to socialize with other guests.

I also had the pleasure of interacting with the rest of the team, who were equally polite and welcoming. It was a delight to learn a new word in their Mayan dialect, adding a unique cultural aspect to my stay.

Overall, I highly recommend staying at Unicorn Reborn. The experience was truly "puro utz" – pure excellence in every aspect. Thank you, Karla, Jonathan, and the rest of the team, for making my stay so memorable. I look forward to visiting again...

Had a great stay for a week at Unicorn Reborn. My partner and I stayed in Ruby cabin which was private and cozy. Central location but pretty quiet despite that. There is a bit of noise from the dogs/people walking by but nothing too bad compared to other parts of San Marcos. Central shared garden was just marvelous! Our room was cozy, simple and sweet. We recieved drinking water in our room, toilet paper, towels, some fruit and even incense. Shared bathroom and kitchen did the job. Shower head not the best, but as I said, did the job. My favourite part was being part of the full movement class schedule, as we purchased a full access pass as part of our stay and it was great. Many different classes from mma to yoga, good teachers and mainly, it allowed me to let go of thinking how much does every class cost, and just have access to all for such a reasonable price. Jonathan is a beautiful soul, was great to communicate with ahead of time and during our stay. We had ice baths and sauna temazcal together as well at the Unicorn. I truly recommend, especially for those of us who know they want to go to a movement class every day, it's a perfect package. And it allows you to be part of a community pretty quickly. Thanks Jonathan, Karla, Thomas and all you...
