Centro Sonrisa — Hotel in Sololá

I have been coming to San Marcos since 2009 and I always stay at Paco Real. (If I remember correctly the first time Icame I stayed several months!) It is a cozy, family style hotel. Situated in the middle of Barrios 3 it is a true oasis. I had trouble taking photos to show what it looks like because of all the trees and plants, which create the feel of an oasis. Paco is run by the owner and his family (wife and two young men) and I have always been met with kindness and they are helpful in every way possible. Paco is NOT a luxury hotel - if you want that then you have to look elsewhere. But for very reasonable prices you can get a nice, clean room with a shower and a patio with hammock (or a balcony with table and chairs) - what else do I need? A pretty dirty and tired place, it needs some TLC and it could be a great place. We stayed here for 6 nights and even though it's meant to be a hotel the bathroom wasn't cleaned once, the beds not being made and the bed linen not being changed I can live with but a bathroom clean even once in the week would be nice.||The breakfast is a whole different story... absolutely terrible. Something that looked like chicken in a weird dough with a bit of tomato sauce and cheese one day, followed by cold scrambled eggs with carrots the next day? And a bowl of cornflakes with warm, weird tasting milk the next and no drink?||Personally I think it's an overpriced, dirty place to stay which is real shame when it's in a...

Nous étions venus pour passer 3 nuits au Paco Real, mais nous y sommes restés une nuit de plus, tant l'endroit nous a plu.||De tous les villages que nous avons visités autour du Lac Atitlan, c'est celui de San Marcos La Laguna que nous avons préféré : accès facile à San Pedro par une lancha, petit village très calme aux petites ruelles sans voiture, atmosphère "zen".||Ensuite, nous nous sommes sentis très bien dans le petit hôtel de Paco Real, merveilleusement accueillis par Alain et Magdalena, les propriétaires de ce lieu.||Alain nous a beaucoup aidés dans l'organisation de nos excursions au bord du lac (le tour du lac ... de village en village avec la lancha, ascension du volcan San Pedro) et de la suite de notre voyage (shuttle pour Fuentes Georginas * -sources d'eau chaude dans la forêt tropicale- et marché de Chichicastenango).||Magdalena confectionne 2 fois par semaine d’excellentes pizzas cuites au four à bois ; les repas et petits déjeuners sont excellents, confectionnés "maison" et copieux.||Et puis, on se sent bien dans le petit "chalet" façon suisse qui nous était réservé, au fond du jardin très fleuri. Nous avions réservé une chambre avec salle de bains. Bien demander à Alain comment fonctionne l'eau chaude, avant de prendre toutes vos douches à l'eau froide, comme nous ...||Ne pas oublier d'aller vous reposer dans la réserve naturelle Cerro Tzankujil, toute proche.||A recommander sans hésitation, un lieu où il fait bon de séjourner, dans une ambiance...
